The irony is when States want to protect domestic health insurance companies by preventing shopping across state lines it's suddenly a bad thing.
what? "protect domestic health insurance companies" wtf does that even mean pls explain? how about protecting US citizen from predatory practice? you work for United Health?
I mean that Trump promotes lowering prices by competitive shopping across state lines (something that by Trump logic could hurt in-state health insurance companies and their workforce) yet is diametrically opposed on using the same rationale in international commerce. I'm a staunch Capitalist, so protectionists can get bent is what I'm saying.
the idea is big competition within the country and fair competition outside of it. otherwise the wealth of your country gets shipped to china and the elites. do you think it was right that china pegged to our dollar and caused massive market distortions... particularly in the finance area. Which led to bubbles and misallocation of resources?
China is not Mexico. Do you think it's fair that Mexico was inundated by US industry, their currency dependent on the US dollar due to a trilateral agreement and now their economy is going to go down the toilet because someone doesn't feel like honoring said agreement all of the sudden? What of the US-based raw industries that will be hurt from lack of industry down south?
Mexicos and brazil and all the countries which were starting to develop export economies got screwed when China rigged their currency and worked out crazy deals with our bankers. An example of ridiculous crooked capitalism is when China lost 1.6 trillion in seconds mortgages and the FED replaced their bad loans with treasuries. China got to distort the market for years. When they finally had to pay the piper because you can't screw with the invisible hand forever the FED fixed it for them. That was the worst of crony capitalism. I am all for fair competition and and reasonable trade deals once we get our jobs and some of our wealth back. Living in San Diego I like Mexico and Mexicans. There is going to be a period of adjustment. But if Trump can set it up so Mexico and China and Brazil and Us all compete to sell goods in a fair manner. Mexico should be able to crush China on a lot of goods because of their proximity. My view of Trumpism should turn out to be good for Mexico.
Eh, my view is that we'll just go back to 80's quality vehicles because now Detroit will have to make up for the added cost of manufacture by cheapening components. Mexico will see a domestic boost in industry of 30 foot ladders and ropes across the border from the added economic refugees. I just don't see the Trump logic of economically punishing the main exporter of illegal immigrants. Unless it's to line the pockets of the private prison industry.
