given that i am likely the only one on this site who like and respect Paulson, i wondered what is the attitude here...
wow - i am not the only one. wonder who is that second guy... - but it is going to be a losing game. there are not many people here short treasuries - lol...
Not sure just what to think. Historically, his office has just been as the President's lackey and mouth piece. But Paulson seems to be taking things further... trying to suck off taxpayer money for his buddies at GS???
It's a natural evolution gnome. A GS top honcho has beent part of the US Govenrment for the past 20 years to my recollection, and mos tlikly long, long before then. It is only natural that they go from an attitude of serving the country to one of serving their buddies over at GS.
That's the problem... many, many years ago politicians "did the people's' business". Now they ABUSE THE PEOPLE AND THE PUBLIC PURSE to their own ends... and we're either so trusting or so naive that we don't hold them accountable. Our future is grim...
I cant believe you think Paulson is doing all this to try and make money for people at Goldman. Unbelievable. Such childish, simple, empty thinking. He is a smart guy with his sights on a much bigger picture. BTW the taxpayer will make money on this deal.
That's been the case since time began. You can read editorials and opinion pieces from the 1700s and people have the same complaints. Funny. And sad.
Corruption and cover-ups exists from the top to the bottom. From Paulson and friends down to your local carpenter. Ask anyone to justify and provide details of what your paying for and they start getting offended, defensive, and pissed. You've challenged them! They don't normally expect or like that. Until people start standing up and growing a set of balls, they will be continually taken advantage of from the top ranks of government down to your local plumber. More checks and balances, more regulations. Justify their work efforts and compensations. Challenge the norm people, don't just go with it just because!
Who gave them that power? âI think there are two ways in which people are controlled. First of all frighten people and secondly, demoralize them.â Sicko 2007 Tony Benn
