I was looking at some of the old hall of fame threads on the forum and there were some pretty big players.

    Gnome and his $100m profits
Rearden metal making nearly half a million in a day
Restricted making 600k in a day
Poundtherock making a phenomenal $1.25m the day of the london terrorist attack.
trdwl making $9m from a short position in sep 2001
    Lights making $1.2m

Don't think any of those guys even post anymore so who is the current biggest hitter on ET ?

Who can we all to look up to that will guide us to 8/9 figures in profits

  3. I don't think any big players have over 10k posts on ET. I sure wouldn't. I'd be on a yacht renting women, snorting coke, and boozing it up. Life in the fast lane

  4. Vic Niederhoffer is by far the biggest trader who is a posting member of elitetrader. He use to post before getting driven off by the trolls.

I know Lescor (stock trader) had some big days but I can't remember the numbers. I believe all the traders you mentioned are also stock traders. There was another big name stock trader but he was exposed as a fraud after it was discovered he photo-shopped one of his broker statements.

There were two futures traders that use to post in those old PnL threads that put up 30k to 50k days along with broker statements. Also, there was a forex trader that use to post 5k to 10k days along with broker statements. Yet, these particular people rarely engaged in any conversations outside a few threads.

A few of the traders you mentioned used DOM and TA....same with the futures traders. In contrast, I believe the forex trader was mainly a news and TA trader...heavily into the schedule economic reports and FED/IMF/ECB speeches.

There were others (prop folks) but the last of them seem to vanish during the 2008 - 2009 financial crisis although a few of them moved to stocktwits after being harassed by the anti-TA folks even though TA was not their primary resource.

Currently there also seems to be a trader by the name of @nakachalet who is posting screen captures of some pretty sweet trades. No idea about how these screen captures fit into the PnL for the week, but if you take them at face value, I think the results look pretty impressive.

I also recall seeing in a thread a week or two ago where @Redneck was willing to have a competition posting daily PnL's with another member, although I can't recall who, but this never came to be. Would have been nice as I think there would have been some impressive 4 figure days shown. :)

I think the main reason why we don't see folks posting broker statements here anymore or rarely in comparison to so many that make calls with no statements is just the environment of this forum.

The last three traders I've seen here consistently posting real time calls and broker statements was in the journal section but they only did such no more than a month. One guy in particular setup a +Google connection for anyone to log in an watch his trades on his screen. I went to it for 2 weeks and only I and someone else would log in. He put up impressive numbers too but once again...folks don't seem to be interested in that stuff.

In contrast, I've seen more traders post real time trades and broker statements on stocktwits which to me contains more noise but they do have access to more tools in comparison to the typical chat room or forum.

Anyways, the bubble burst of the dot.com days, decimalization and the 2008 - 2009 financial crisis seem to move most traders out of this forum and the handful left are only making calls but nothing impressive like that old gang of ET members use to post.

Yeah, @nakachalet post broker statements but nothing near to what the old gang use to post. I think the problem for him is that he's not posting his statements in any PnL thread or similar like. Instead, he's kind'uv posting them all over the forum from thread to thread including the heavily debated threads about TA and such...most of the anti-TA folks just ignore him for some odd reason. I notice the same reaction with a few of those mention that use to post big numbers...nobody bothered them too when they talked about indicators, DOM, TA, news or whatever.

Kind'uv strange a lot of these people left suddenly...almost as if they suddenly dropped dead.

Why do you think that guys aren't posting big numbers like they used to ? (6/7 figure days)

Is it a die down in volatility, less opportunities, hft ?

I think its unfortunate that this is the case. There should be some sort of way to at the very least make it slightly more difficult for anyone to be able to say that "I'm a hot shot trader but I refuse to show anything so you will just have to trust me".

Most perhaps don't require the amount of proof that would satisfy the IRS, but I think if there could be just one or two extra steps that a person would have to go through, it might cut down extravagant claims without any substance, and likewise, gain some respect for those who are honest so that other readers can put a little more value in their posts. This is after all the whole point of showing who is profitable, right? We would like to know who talks the talk and can also walk the walk.
