White House walks back Biden Taiwan defense claim for third time in 9 months For the third time since August of last year, the White House walked back comments by President Biden on Monday implying the US would aid Taiwan if the island nation came under attack from China. During a joint press conference with Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida, Biden was asked if the US would be prepared to defend Taiwan if such an attack took place. “Yes,” the president answered. The White House later insisted that US policy on Taiwan “has not changed.” “As the president said, our policy has not changed,” a spokesperson told Fox News. “He reiterated our One China Policy and our commitment to peace and stability across the Taiwan Strait. He also reiterated our commitment under the Taiwan Relations Act to provide Taiwan with the military means to defend itself.”
He knows perfectly well what he is saying and it is an intentional act. https://focustaiwan.tw/politics/202202100029 Taiwan is ranked the number 1 democracy in Asia and 8th in the world. I have been to China and Taiwan, the same Han people but the difference in the people is enormous. If China takes Taiwan they will have no choice but to slowly exterminate a third of the population already killed off in China. Taiwan is an embarrassment to the CCP as it illustrates to their population what was possible for the Han.
Strategic ambiguity is longstanding US policy on Taiwan. That means we don't say whether the US will help defend Taiwan. That's why Biden's staff is repeatedly walking back his comments. The man is senile, not up to snuff on foreign policy and dangerous.
And rain is wet. Do you see anyone posting that somebody who works for Huffpost thinks anything? Its not a 'walk back' saying two things as the same time is how China does things, its not even just them. Instead of being a news parrot about a world you obviously know nothing about, try posting less boring and stupid threads or better book a flight outside the US. Boooooooooooooring racist grandpa, boring. Don't make threads like this, waste of electrons.
President goes over 100 days without major interview: 'Handlers are petrified' "If you don't do an interview in 102 days, that shows that his handlers are petrified he'll say things like he just said about defending Taiwan, for example, because that requires a cleanup on aisle five," Fox News contributor Joe Concha told "Fox & Friends First" Monday, referencing Biden's remarks that the U.S. would defend Taiwan militarily if it was attacked by China. Concha noted 2022 is an election year and Democrats face a potentially dire November, according to recent polls. "You would think that the commander-in-chief would be sat down somewhere, anywhere, maybe somewhere friendly that could at least give him a platform," he said. "You just get the feeling that the president's handlers now at this point think that it's probably going to do more harm than good if he does an interview, and that's pretty scary when you consider that again, this is the leader of this country. He should face questions and accountability, and they just don't want to put him out there, for whatever reason."
