If there's room for a cultural issue in the upcoming Republican primary cycle, this might be it. The news from England is that Parliament has approved high-tech treatments that would replace a tiny portion of a mother's DNA with genetic material from another woman (the "third parent"). The procedure would avoid the birth of children with mitochondrial diseases that can be disabling and even fatal. Though the resulting baby would still have more than 99 percent of her or his mom's DNA, the donated genes would be passed down to all her descendants. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/jonat..._b_6678044.html?utm_hp_ref=science&ir=Science
First we had genetically modified crops, now we will have genetically modified humans. Just a matter of time until some ethically challenged politician proposes using these scientific tools to create a master race.
You can't modify after the fact. You can create a short list for retroactive abortions.... but acting on such a proposed list invariably leads to sticky legal issues.
You mean the vast majority of people who dont act like you, who dont prance around in womens clothing while listening to judy garland records?
