Which combination of chartsoftware/orderentry do you use?

  1. When day trading stocks with IB i prefer the combination of Tradingview/Booktrader or Sierrachart alone
I tend to use sierrachart alone because i have not to switch to another application for order entry. I would like to know, what you prefer.

IB TWS or TWS Mobile. I use my own software (Java-based) for charting and screening.

I use Amibroker for charting/screening and Activestate perl for all data scripting and scraping. Sometimes Excel VBA for quick and fast data analysis. IB TWS for trading.

That's something I've never expected to see in here - user of Perl :) Have used Perl a lot, but haven't used in this setting. Happy to hear more about your setup!

It's difficult for Excel to crunch > 1 million records from screening results. perl has powerful array capability. I use perl to crawl Edgar data.

Would you recommend using Sierra Chart with IB, are there any bugs? The SC tech support is always raving about how much IB sucks & suggesting customer's use another broker which has scared me away from trying this.

  8. Separate your EMS from your OMS.

  9. It works well for me. Had no issues using IB´s datafeed. What i appreciate is the fact that you get even second based charts (5s, 10s, 15s etc.). Sierra is very solid and quick. Charts are loading immediately and you can use sierra´s datafeed for the past (backfill). Only the last 10-15 minutes of the chart come from IB. If you want you could subscribe to SC´s realtime datafeed, which will cost approximately $ 25 extra.
