There is no pre market session for non futures options, with the exception of SPX/VIX. Trading starts at 930am et.

  4. Then do you mean, if I trade SPX option, then I can post pre-market order and this order can be filled before 930 am?

  5. yesterday TD Ameritrade gave me a filled order in after-market session - 16:03pm.
The first strange thing is I did not post any order at the time. Yesterday SPY was closed as $411.88 at 16:00pm. And my short call position's strike was at $414, so I totally have no any need to close an OTM position. But this morning, when i opened the computer, I found I have a filled closed order, closed that short call at $0.01 at 16:03pm. That was done not by myself but in my account. I am currently contact with TDAmeritrade asking why this thing happened.

That time is after-trading session. Who can tell me why the order can be filled?

SPX options trade almost 24 hours a day. Most retail brokers don't offer access to this overnight session, with the exception of Interactive Brokers.

    Primal Trader likes this.

Virtu was making an almost 24-hour market (24/5) in the spy. They offered a limited amount of options activity and I'm not 100% certain they still offer the option. TD had access.

Find out how the 24/5 Trading feature works

    • 24/5 Trading feature is available on our thinkorswim trading platforms.
    • The list of available securities now includes FXI, SPY, EEM, GLD, SLV, DIA, UNG, TLT, IWM, QQQ, USO, SH, RWM, PSQ, AGG, DOG, EWA, EFA, EWJ, IJH, VTI, XLF, XLE, and XLK.
Kind of looks like the options did garner enough support.

All the challenges about nonRTH exist.

  9. Thanks for your reply. I will try it.

  10. No. Thinkorswim belongs to TDAmeritrade.
I can post my SPY option order but TDAmeritrade did not make the order filled in pre-market session.
