Where's that confounded Bid ?

    Below occurs fairly often --

I submit an order that overrides the currently-posted max bid or min ask, or there is no posted bid or ask prior to my order submit, yet the real-time order line does not report my price, and sometimes does not report the size.

In the below example for a GFI put today, my bid does not print.

The fact that the interface reports my size suggests that the system recognizes my order.

Broker is IB. Happens much more w/ options than w/ underlying.

Any ideas where in the chain, and why, the bid does not print ?

@M.W. -- yes, my order presets use SMART routing, curious that size but not bid prints

There can be a myriad of reasons for this. IB may internalize your order if you submitted with the 'smart order' type. In that case it does not go straight to the exchange. If you need direct access then you need to rout directly to the exchange in question.

In your example, GFI, is not a penny option stock. The options must be quoted in at least nickel increments. It looks like you put a .02 bid in, so this price can't be displayed.
