On a new computer I've installed the latest TWS, v946.2, and I greatly dislike some of the changes. You used to be able to get previous versions on the IB website, but I don't see them now. I'd like to go back to the latest version before they added the "automatic lock/unlock layouts" feature, and also before they changed the initial screen and took away the portfolio tabs and forced all the portolios/charts to exist inside an area below the main headings. Is there still a source for the previous versions?
I tried that but it's an "upgrade" download. When I installed it it sensed that I had 946.2 installed and wouldn't work. I thought of uninstalling 946.2, but from the error message I had the impression that the "upgrade" version needed a previous installation to upgrade. What I need is a complete previous version download. I wonder why they removed the previous versions downloads. Are we being forced into being beta testers?
Well, I tried...uninstalled 946, ran the 939 upgrade. This is the resulting error message: "The TWS installer cannot find a previous version of the TWS installed on your machine. Please install the full version of TWS before attempting any ugrades." That's what I expected would happen, but hope springs eternal. So I'm still looking for the full version of a previous TWS installation.
Thanks for the 939.4 link. It works, but in the meantime I found 933.5 on one of my computers and also an upgrade to 939.4. But 939.4 has the same features that I dislike in the latest version. So I went back to 933.5, which is just as I like, but only one problem. The API is disabled, and since I also run Quotetracker and/or Medved Trader, I need that to work. So does anyone know what is the earliest version of TWS that will work with the API not disabled?
You guys do realize that by downloading TWS from some random user off the internet, you could download a re-compiled application that has additional code to do pretty much anything, right? Sure, it does require serious programming knowledge, but there are lots of crackers out there.
