Bush Says U.S. to Stay in Iraq as Long as Needed http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?pid=20601087&sid=a3Xvi64ku1pI&refer=home
Losses? What losses? Paper losses are not losses! They only become losses if you sell! This is a long term investment! We're not losing the war in Iraq. We will only lose if we cut and run. Stay the course!
massive margin call ahead...bush will be forced into liquidation...public will get seriously pissed sooner or later and a reaction of chain will take place.
Bush has failed (yet been compensated for and to ) at every venture he's ever attempted. The man is rationally incompetent in every sense of the word. Why exactly would you believe that he would learn at this late date to "cut his losses?" It ain't gonna happen. Bush the younger, and stupider, will go down as the worst president since the Civil War. Possibly ever... Sucks to be us right now.
we are already leaving. last italian soldier will come back home today after 3 yrs and a half and 32 dead. 39 including civilians. for how much i despise commie prodi he did the right thing. sorry fellas, this is no win/lose situation, we have no reason to stay there no more.
soon bush will be the only one left. By Jennifer Quinn ASSOCIATED PRESS 5:29 a.m. November 27, 2006 LONDON â Britain said Monday it expects to withdraw thousands of its 7,000 military personnel from Iraq by the end of next year, while Poland and Italy announced the impending withdrawal of their remaining troops. Polish President Lech Kaczynski said his country, a U.S. ally in Iraq and Afghanistan, would pull its remaining 900 soldiers out of Iraq by the end of 2007. And Italian Premier Romano Prodi said the last of Italy's soldiers in Iraq â some 60-70 troops â will return home this week, ending the Italian contingent's presence in the south of the country after more than three years.
Exactly. History is going to be brutal on him. His kids maybe even hate him and I'm sure the father is horrified about this disaster. We're crying out for honest leadership and not getting it. I have no idea how we're going to recover our prestige and dignity after this mess.
Doc, I know you hate the war and the commie neo-con's but spare the drama. History will little note nor long remember a war that killed less Americans in three years than often died in a typical DAY of WWll. Even Nam was about 10x deadlier than Iraq. This war was stupid, expensive and worst yet it doomed us to a few years of Dems. But forget about the big picture, even in the small picture it's not that big of deal. There's 300,000,000 people in this country. 3000 died in Iraq. Suck? Of course it does. But around the same number of L.A. County gang-bangers have died during the same period. Is that a "national tragedy"? Fuck no. (I wish 3 million of those guys would die). Other than paying a buck more for gas (which might not even be Iraq related) America felt no pain over this war. I'm not rationalizing the horror but I do think it's ironic that blacks will murder several thousand American's this year (and those victims aren't paid enlistees) but one's a racist if they even mention that. Yet folks will opine for freakin' years that Bush is the devil incarnate because he launched a relatively small operation in Iraq. So while I know you oppose the war for the RIGHT reasons, compared to the sort of civil, economic and REAL war type calamities that will someday bestow us, this is a pimple. It would be like an 80yo freaking out over a blister. He's ignoring his bigger probs lurking around the corner..... Jeez, LBJ and Bush. Now I know why you left Texas as soon as you were able. Although as your Civil War caveat suggests, I too am an Illinoisan who's less than enamored by honest Abe. I think he'd have sacrificed every man in America if it meant stemming succession....
