When journals just end?

Somehow I found myself cruising the "Journals" subforum here and a couple of them seemed really interesting, then, all of a sudden, nothing. Not even somebody saying "Hey, where are you?" So, I wanted to ask,is this usually when a trader with a posted journal has one of those days where you lose a little, then lose a little more, then go completely insane and max out your margin and just refuse to take a loss? I've noticed that some of the better ones must have spent an inordinate amount of time posting charts, etc. Do they just get tired of it? Why wouldn't they say "Hey, I am spending more time posting than trading, gotta end the journal"?

I do see some that I admire greatly, they keep coming back, even after getting pounded, over and over. They certainly have "stick-to-it-ness" Unfortunately they're not learning from their mistakes. Realistically, if you study your action, see exactly where you went wrong, and repeat it over and over, you ain't learned nothing yet.

I also see that some members seem to exist only to put down others who are trying. Why? Strikes me as indicative of a wretched small, mean mind. But, maybe some of the journal writers are just discouraged by demeaning criticism?

The faster each one of us identifies/detects them, the more pleasant/easy life will be.
The abyss of ignore, will always find a new space for those lost souls.

Usually it's fun & great till the first hit. For some its minor, for some it's major both financially and mentally.
(Shared it once, great visual representation)

And if one has ego issues, then it will be hard to admit your lack of certain skill to yourself, what even to say, when it comes to writing about that in public forum. (anonymous to a certain level)

    Being stubborn is great ;
but without the ability to re-invent, to start from the scratch, - that's ain't good.
One needs an open mindedness and this is where the IQ stuff begins, because those two are highly correlating.

You know, the funny thing, and that is very true, i had multiple times (maybe 6 times in the past 3 years), actually one recently, just few days ago, where i thought, that the learning curve is no longer as steep as it used to be, yet i choose to ignore that & a major discovery/breakthrough in the learning process, happened few hours latter.

    It is fascinating.
And it is available to anyone, who chooses to :

Takes a lot of effort to maintain a journal. I think traders stop posting once they start getting profitable. I think that once a person sees how simple it really is there is nothing left to write about. The words just kind of leave you. It becomes less talking and more doing.

Also, to call other 'wretched' and 'small minded' makes you that person. Do you see? You have become they thing you are complaining about. Leave them be.

    Ha ha ha...

I talked about this in one particular trade journal and the guy resurface several months later to tell me to STFU and that he was away because he was just "busy" or something like that. :D

All I did was say where are you, can you update us and you still trading ?

Yet, I did ask those questions a few times over several months including sending a private message.

Regardless, the typical life of most public trade journals is about 3 months.

Most traders eventually view their trade journals as time consuming and mentally consuming...reason why journals have a short life span.

Trade journals end for so many reasons, I didn't notice any particular common reason like the trader blew up, took a job that doesn't allow them time to trade or whatever. Also, the trade journal section here at ET is somewhat sacred and well protected. Anyone getting crap in their trade journal...they can easily have the offender access removed from their trade journal and have the comments deleted by management / moderator.

Thus, I strongly doubt someone ends a trade journal here at ET because they were offended by someone. In fact, many trade journals or education threads will show early cracks when the thread starter early in their threads start talking about they're not sure now long they will maintain their thread and/or talk about that they believe there's a "lack of interest" in their thread.

These are threads by someone that plans to soon end the thread and/or leave without any notification. I recently had an experience with an education thread title Understanding Price Action in which the thread starter did exactly that. She stated early in her thread there was a lack of interest in what she had to say and that she should let her thread die...

Later, I then asked questions and repost questions by others that were not answered...she acts offended and leaves and then blames me on her departure even though she had already announced she may let her thread die due to the lack of interest prior to me asking questions. :D

Regardless, the most simple explanation is that they get involved with other things unrelated or related to their trading and stopping the trade journal makes room for that other thing even for those that stay at the forum...continuing posting but not maintaining their trade journal.

By the way, this is a public forum. Its no different than any other social media site. Thus, the crap you see occurring here is no different than the crap you see occurring at other social media sites even those social media sites not related to trading...

Its the nature of the internet.

I suppose that's"multinick" is directed to me. I was directed to this forum by tech support at a brokerage firm, while making side conversations not directly related to my call, but just a response to "I like a good forum" This one was highly recommended. Never been to this forum before a few weeks ago, and there are some very interesting, and educational posts and threads, and of course, a series of unfounded accusations and insults. My favorite answer to insults used to be "Thank you for your interest but I'm not gay."(TY FYI BING) Times have changed and that's not a really good thing to post in public any more. I was particularly interested in a thread that just stopped, in the first week of March. I also liked a couple that are current, such as "$2000 to $200000" and "Sekiyo's Journal" I plan on reading several more of them. Maybe, if I'm interested, I suppose I should comment on the thread, so the poster knows their work is being followed and appreciated. In particular, I'm interested in the "$286 left" thread. I can learn a lot being outside the action, about why people do something that is doomed to fail. Given enough spare time, I'll read at least the first few posts in all the trading journals.

When I was little I had a dog who outgrew our home. My dad took him to live on a farm where he could run through the fields and play with all the other animals all day!

@volpri journal a good one for sure.

Nothing makes some folks feel better about themselves than arguing with anonymous posters on internet trading forums. At night their fat and psychopathic wives thrash them within inches of their lives. And the next day they are back here building themselves up again by tearing others down.

Think journals adds more stress to the poster, trading hard enough. Too many offer suggestions that too me often makes little sense. At some point posters journal takes wicked turn and many turn on the poster. And few who trade well, don't have time to answer on continuous basis.

I cannot see Poopy's response here if he has one, but this time I hope he remembers that it too is from "The Wall." :)
