i didnt see to have found this question asked anywhere, strange. So im curious at what age everyone started trading, or better phrased made their first trade. How did it go? where have you gotten in terms of progress since then? (e.g. quit, still trading, temporary leave and etc.) I always find this question to be terribly fascinating. My first trade was via my dad who was a bit drunk and said hed buy 100 pieces of anything. I chose google and made 300$. I was 10 or 11. First real trade was buying netflix with my own account and then checking 3 weeks later to see that i made 1400$. For a 13 year old i was shocked.
1957 was24 used 300 bucks. made 10% every 6 to 8 day position trading. Added 50% 0f salary every two weeks. In 3 years commisions were greater than salary. I quit working 2 years later. My limit in shares was 100,000 per hold. up to 12 streams. I trade other instruments lately for others than my self. There are many many threads here on your topic.
I was nine in 1967 and traded two dozen unsigned Chicago Cubs baseball cards for 20 1954 Topps Ernie Banks rookie cards unsigned. Uncle got them signed the next day and I still have them plus a ton of other sporting cards I have accumulated through the years. Banks' cards now worth min of $1,000 each. I trade full time and then some, long term Futures and stock/etf's, Future spreads, options and day trade currencies, energies, indexes, financials, gold and beans. Have six automated going various times of the day. My favorite phrase "Always Next Year" for them cubbies.
