  1. to the U.S. economy? What happened to economy in the history when mercury hit low like this? What happened when this coincident with an precidential election and unemployment rate over 5%?

    Only weathermen code weather. Cold weather bumps up the profits of energy co's, oil, nat. gas and fuel oil, and elec gen. and distribution. It acts like a tax on consumers that can't pass it on.
