What type of a track record do prop firms think is good enough prior to funding you?

Discussion in 'Prop Firms' started by Tall Mike, Aug 25, 2023.

  1. Interested in getting some professional insights.

    1. What type of returns do prop firms consider good prior to funding you?

    2. how do they verify your returns are legitimate?

    For example:
    Date - 2023
    YTD - 15%
    Max DD - 10%
    Sharpe - 0.82%

The above example is purely for illustrative purposes, but do they look at those metrics, and if so what do they consider good?

    Thanks!

  2. I don't know about prop firms... but when it comes to OPM, "3-years track record, audited".

I'd say low double digit monthly returns and a sharpe above 3 is desirable.

Anything less than 100% p.a. and sharpe below 2 doesn't cut it

  4. And length of track record?

It seems to me there might be a bit of a catch 22 situation here as by the time anyone would have amassed an impressive track record for any length of time, they might not be in a position where they'd need external capital or a 'job' anyway.

    Why both?
    There are much better options.

Pass their two phases challenges( about 108% profit target) and you get their funding.
No time limit, no sharpe, no drawdown requirements.
If you are really consistent, it is easy to pass these challenges.
You don't get better terms from a real prop firm.
There is a small fee but once you pass challenge, the fee is refunded, so there is no cost if you are really profitable.

Uh, broheim, if you're pulling 100% PA you're already known and they will find you.

If you have sharpe 2 more than 3 years and can scale up I can recommend you to some family offices.

I don't know what the fuck is wrong with most of the people on this form. Some sort of combination of Schizoaffective Disorder and Narcissism. I guess everyone has given up on actually making money and doesn't value their time to do other things, so they just troll the forums. Super weird.

I am not returning 100% PA consistently. Never said I did. You need to read what I wrote in the context of someone else. Are you really unable to comprehend this discussion?

Like I did say, if you're pulling in some serious numbers (which beat nearly everyone else on Earth) someone is going to notice and the concept of asking people on a forum for help with self-promotion is quite ridiculous and unnecessary.

Point being, Muppet said, and I quote: 'Anything less than 100% p.a. and sharpe below 2 doesn't cut it"

Who the fuck is pulling 100% on a consistent basis and who set that benchmark as the standard? Only top guys are pulling that who've been at this for many years. Far above normal. Do you think these prop firm guys are only taking in people who are pulling that and that's the barrier to entry?

What world do you live in? Stop pulling numbers out of your ass.

Most of these people are mongoloids and the moment you walk in the door you're on your own anyway. No structure, no "we're in this together; let's teach the newbie". Many are former floor traders with zero higher education and couldn't give a fuck about you at all, and the guy from HYPS is too self-absorbed to give a fuck either and is too passive-aggressive he can't explain himself even if he wanted to.

Go work on a desk and tell me I'm wrong. I had to literally teach myself while drawing a salary from these bozos, hoping that I would figure it out in time (the 6 month window I was given). Turns out I'm not as dumb as I thought.

I feel like I'm screaming into the void whenever I try to have a discussion with anyone on this forum, so I'm going to go enjoy the rest of my weekend and come back Monday, ready to make more money by 11:30am EST than you've made all year, living in your Mom's basement.

BTW, tell that skank she still owes me a dime. I overpaid on our last visit.
