What to do when markets are closed?

Discussion in 'Trading' started by stockoptionstrader, Jan 2, 2017.

  1. Today I thought markets would be open, not the case.

I hate it when the markets are closed, what do you guys do trading related when markets are closed?

    Any good suggestions?

    TIA

I have been doing some reading this weekend "Markets and market logic" by Steidlmayer & Coy. I have also been reviewing my trading journal and watched a few good trading youtubes for a second or third time.

  4. Write a short computer program to notify yourself of upcoming market holidays.

Eventually, trading and related gets to be a job, so when holidays come, they are extra times to get away, go to the zoo, walk in the park, malls are more empty, go to movies and when waiting for GF to shop in Victoria's Secret, check out ET.

  7. Markets open: watch execution of algos, slippage etc.

Markets closed: refine algos and figure out what went wrong during trading hours.

Since Trump policies are going to have such a strong affect on the markets in 2017, I've been reading one of my x-mas presents: "Trump Revealed" by Michael Kranish and Marc Fisher.

It's a great read, and I have no doubt he will make his campaign promises come to fruition, even if they're watered down. Collateral damage will be the cost of doing business (trade).

It solidifies my long view of gold. :)

Please explain why you think Trump policies are pro-gold. Thanks.

Just through sheer volatility that will be initiated by trade wars, the wrestling match coming with inflation (interest rate up, interest rate down, interest rate up etc), the Euro zone collapsing and too much debt with U.S. and China.

Being a swing trader, gold is like low hanging fruit in 2017…IMHO…
