It's Expiration minus 2hrs & I've got some hair-trigger stuff on slightly ITM long, I don't recall but would greatly appreciate if anybody here can tell me off top of their head what time does IB auto liquidation kick in for post-expiry excess. Thx
if you have a specific question about a brokerage...contact them directly -- instead of asking on a forum
If you don't want them to be exercised I would exit the positions myself - unload them at the bid before the market closes.
I believe it's any time after 3pm. When it's happened to me, it's generally been between 3:10 and 3:30pm. The premium you'll gain by waiting til the last hour could be more than lost with a bad fill. If the bid/ask are wide at the time they liquidate, it could be ugly. I always do my own these days.
Yep... and you never know if a certain market maker like let's say... Timber Hill, will be ready to give you that bad fill as well. If there's any doubt on things - close it.
Generally good advice, but IB chat help tends to be vague and CYA'ish. They're reluctant to commit the firm to any specific course of action or inaction.
Then you're asking it wrong. Ask in a vague-ish manner to let them know they won't be held liable, in the American lawsuit-happy world, it's what's needed to get things done.
Largely agree, but then you have no recourse if/when they don't behave as you understood from the wink 'n' nod discussion.
Yes...the reps will just read some boilerplate that indicates you can be liquidated at any time on Friday.
