What Nassim Taleb Did on Black Monday 1987

  1. Listening to and watching an academic speaking about trading...makes my eyes and mind glaze over,

He looks like a diamond wholesaler/broker.
I use to dabble in jewelry...all those guys are Middle Easterners and Indians and Jewish/Israeli.
They all kind of look snakey sleazy when wearing suits.

  2. Who is this guy? ETers seem to have a fascination about him which borders on a strong disgust! Seem ok in the interview.

Come on.. You have about 400 post in about 1 month.

Do some basic research on trading/probability outside of this forum. If you don't know who/ what/ where about NT (agree or not) you are not going to be taken seriously and more importantly you are not doing yourself any favours.

This is a forum, learn else where and bring it back. If this is your sole source of info it is not going to end well for you.

Fooled by Randomness was the most useful to me...Obviously my 2 cents.

...good to see that political correctness hasn't totally taken over the world.

  5. OK mate, I'll google him. Was just interested in ETs view of him - just saw some off comments here and there. Will check him out. Thanks.

  6. Just curious sss12 - are you bull Taleb, or bear? I sense bull. Thanks!

  7. The man is a near genius. He is a finance expert, successful trader, master of mathematics, speaks 5,6 languages and can intellectually argue about ancient languages and the origin of words....Sumerian, Aramaic etc.

He is an intellectual giant .

He is on twitter and tweets daily, check him out.

His philosophy as a overall investment strategy I am not a fan of.

His philosophy in general, I think I've taken a few useful points from.
One being, if a trade is not working, you do not need to know why it is not working. Just that is not working and get out.

As I mention I thought Fooled was the most useful.

You are obviously a fan, that's fine the guy has a lot going on.

But as far as financial expert/ successful trader.....if you followed his tail risk philosophy starting this month he is a genius. If you followed him from 2012-2017 you are probably bancrupt.
