I make that prediction because I don't really care what happens to him. I do not think Trump will have a strong chance in the next election. The democrats are highly motivated and I think he burned his base to much to out ever over come their enthusiasm. (the caveat comes later). I think the house races just showed us that Trump is in serious trouble. Also, the democrats are and the media are going to be making his life as tough as they can for the next 2 years. His approval ratings are going to be hammered over and over and over. How will he rebound? He needs to bring back Mick to his corner. He needs Bannon and he needs to act on Bannon's agenda. (its not racist it pro American) He needs the power of Bannon's ideas to energize the base. In short... Trump just failed his mid terms. He failed trying to please the establishment. Its time to work for his base non stop for 2 years... If he can't get his polices approved at least he was trying... and his base will have a reason to vote. If he waits even a few months... it will be too late. The primaries will begin and it will be over. By the way... my prediction is pain because I think he will just counter punch and fail. Say hello to Nikki Haley in the primaries.
We will get a heavy dose of John Kasich before it is over too. He thinks he is going to be the humanistic, hugging republican as the anti-dote to Trump. A little bit of him goes a long way. Unfortunately you always get more than a little. And of course, this turn of events with GM in Ohio, and Ohio being a pivotal state will get his glands stimulated I am sure. Kasich is on the move, you can set your clock by it even though it may take a little longer. YUK.
Doesn't say much for his base. I don't blame his base. That would be like blaming a retarded person for a bad decision. Bannon wants to kick out young, productive, educated adults who have never known any other country but the U.S. He, like trump, is a horrible person. Yes, the human race is flawed, and Trump and Bannon are sad examples of the worst flaws. These DACA folks are here because American Corporate and Business interests did not want tight enforcement of immigration law. Employers did not alert immigration authorities when they could hire surprisingly hard working illegal immigrants and not get caught, or at worst pay in consequential fines that amounted to a slap on the wrist. American employers benefited from low wages and lack of the illegals' standing in U.S. Courts. The illegals found work in chicken processing plants, on farms, and on assembly lines. They would not be turned in by their employers, and in turn they would not complain to authorities about working conditions. Corporate America and small businesses were happy to pay illegal workers less than they would have otherwise had to pay citizen workers to do the same jobs; jobs citizens either did not want, or that could become the basis of legal action because of inhuman working conditions. So what now? It is heartless and illogical to punish DACA Americans because their parents were desperate for asylum and were willing to accept what was offered by greedy employers . A parallel would be executing those who killed Khashoggi while letting the monster that ordered the killing go free with a wink -- an outcome perfectly satisfactory to a miscreant like Trump. If we are going to kick out the DACA young adults, then we must also kick out the principles of the businesses and corporations who telegraphed a subtle message to their Congressmen and Senators; getting tough on immigrants would take a bite from their profits. As Abba Eban said, "Clocks only move one direction." We can't undo what is done, we can only avoid repeating the same crime going forward. What we are in danger of doing, and Mr. Trump and Mr. Bannon would have us do it, is to compound a crime by adding an injustice on top of it.
Kasich would be a fun wrench in the 2020 election, like how Bernie Sanders split the Dems in 2016. I hope he runs and would load up on popcorn and watch with glee...
Ahhh yes, my younger days. We did that scene in only 1 take. It was one of my signature moments of the movie. Well that, and when I told Sly's woman to come over to my apartment and I would show her a real man. Love me some rich white poon.
Kasich is in for a rude awakening if thinks his brand of feel good do-nothingness immigration policy will motivate Republicans. Hillary would be tougher on immigration than Kasich. In fact, Hillary will run again in 2020 and she will appear much tougher on illegal immigration this time around. Kasich needs to leave the Kumbaya immigration speeches to Beto. Kasich and Jeb "crossing the border illegally is an act of love" Bush are now irrelevant.
????? Trump's midterm results were better than 85% of current president's midterms in the entire history of the country.
70% of Senate races were for seats held by Democrats and no incumbent Democrat resigned. Less than 30% of Senate seats were for seats held by Republicans and additionally 3 Republicans retired. This would necessarily skew the turnout and the popular vote count in favor of Democrats since most of the voting occurred where Dems are strong. Indeed, it would then affect turnout for House races and make it easier for the House to shift to Democrat hands as many Republicans stayed home in areas where there was no major race on the board where Repubs had a chance to win.---In fact, with no Dems retiring and 3 Repubs retiring in The Senate, The Dems made a very poor showing by losing Senate seats. In addition, with 44 Republican House members retiring, the gains by Dems in The House are weak at best.
