what is the term for this ? delayed expenditures ?

  1. Hello

I am looking for the correct term for this, and at midnight my mind is blank.

Employee Jones occupies a position at ABC company, and faces a mandatory move due to a company policy of "check the blocks and get diversified." However Jones has calculated that by STAYING IN PLACE for another 12 months, saves his company $100,000. He is going to write a proposal to this effect to company management, arguing that he be allowed to stay in place.

Question: what is the term for this, something the CFO/etc bean counters will immediately recognize ? delayed expenditures ? cost offset ? etc ?

    Thanks

    Eyez

Reminds me of opportunity cost related questions/problems from microeconomics. ie. should plant shutdown or keep operating. ie. cost of staying open - cost of shutting down.. if this value is positive, basically you're better off shutting down

  4. Net saving.

I would not make the terminology too complicated.

They will understand what you mean easily enough. If you succeed, it will be in significant part because they admire your gumption.
