And what do you use to scan? NOOB QUESTIONS, I I KNOW, DONT BEAT THE SHIT OUT IF ME. something I’m struggling with. Should I have a “universe of 500 stocks that I use as a place to find ideas? What should I be screening for to find good ideas? What platform should I use to scan/screen for ideas. I see comments here and on FinTwit like”doing my nightly scan”. I know some use FINVIZ. I don’t know how to use it properly, other than scanning for the right sectors. help?
You're doing a lot better than many new posters. You have not attracted the ire of dest, and you drew me into posting a funny. 2 for 2. Just keep at it...Sometimes the thoughtful responses come much later after initial post. Because sometimes the folks with the thoughtful responses take time to type a thoughtful response. And this forum generates a TON of new briefs to go through on a daily basis, if you have not noticed. People have to sift through them all.
Lol. Thanks. I think. I’m actually a moderator on another forum…fir financial advisors. We don’t moderate very much there. So I get it. ;-)
I can guarantee you that the moment @Magna reads what you just typed, he will go from angry red camera ball of HAL to green Hulk skin color, for his envy of that.
KG, I used to use TC2000 and a simple script that looked for: SP500 universe Price above 6.00 and below 100 Daily Volume greater than 1.3 daily average. Price rise greater than a percent of total price. It would give me about 10-20 stocks a day. Then I would scan them manually and pick the best Create a basket and did a $ average distribution across them. Entered the next AM Did well in bull and sideways markets. About 1-20 would result in a breakout from a merger or news. Had about 50% win rate. Stop loss was set at support or time limit. Hope that helps.
