Financial cost of the Iraq War just over $1.1 trillion
The most recent major report on these costs come from Brown University in the form of the Costs of War, which totaled just over $1.1 trillion. The United States Department of Defense's direct spending on Iraq totaled at least $757.8 billion, but also highlighting the complementary costs at home, such as interest paid on the funds borrowed to finance the wars.

  2. George Bush said we could not leave because men would just go back to beating their wives.

Have we accomplished that goal yet?

Oh, I see. Another thousand years are needed.

As long as the Bush dynasty pays for it, who cares how long it takes. Probably gonna wipe all their asses out in about 17 minutes. Nice oceanfront property in Kennebunkport for sale soon!

  4. Fond memories there in Kennebunkport for the Bush family.

That's where Little Bush had his first DUI, if you don't count earlier ones elsewhere that were covered up.

Crop rotation of the poppy fields for a year or two?

Afghanistan is possibly the most backwards part of the world.

We aren't going to turn it into an example of capitalism. We aren't going to put in Starbucks, McDonalds and Trader Joe's. We aren't going to deter them from warfare as it is the national sport. We aren't going to deter them from poppy production.

So, what are we doing there? The only valid argument is that we are preventing Afghanistan from being used by terrorist groups as a base to launch attacks on the United States.

I say we leave and monitor the place. If foreign terrorists start basing themselves there again we may have to reengage them but I don't think that requires a constant presence.

I don't know what we got for that $2 trillion, but if we played our cards right, we could've had a frickin' colony on Mars by now with that much money.

But Halliburton, Blackwater and countless others would be much poorer. We got what we deserved for not keeping our leader accountable. Just think for a sec how much damage Bush costed US and the world. Who knows, if Gore was the president we might be living in a much safer world. But, we will never know.

Well, we weren't in a safer world under Obama so I wouldn't count on it. I think 9/11 and the financial crisis would've happened under Gore just the same.
