What could possibly this administration achieve by this?

    Hey @Tsing Tao

I saw this comment of yours in another thread.

I think in principle I agree that the US is never going to attack or invade a country such as Canada, nor take Greenland by force (I was also positive the Republicans were going to lose, but what do I know).

But you've got to admit, this is not the way a for country to treat your allies. Certainly not if the US does not want to resurrect accusations of imperialism. And I won't even get anywhere near Gaza.

Since you seem to be more on an even keel in politics I want to ask you: why would the US administration throw around words like "annexation", "take control", and the like?

What's it going to achieve by doing so?

Trump is causing a nationalist response in those countries.
When a country begins to defend itself, it becomes less likely to sell out to China or WEF.
We don't want world gov't or an economy run by AI, that would cause a total population collapse worldwide.

Hi notagain, what does that above mean, can you elaborate?

Why? I wish I could say for sure. I think that Trump believes that over-the-top comments like this establish an antagonistic position that then allows him to get more once he "moderates" his comments. That's his "Art of the Deal" bullshit.

This kinda summed it up well:

I think it's an asinine way to do "deals". But that's just my opinion, which means squat.

Asinine is a very, very nice way to put it, IMO.

I don't very much care for the opinion of many on this forum, but I'd be interested in tracking the evolution of your own sentiment for this government across the weeks and months since the election.

I'm not suggesting that you are going to renounce or denounce your political choice. But I do not believe you to be particularly susceptible to the sunk cost effect, and I think you are able to see the situation in the US through a more objective lens than others here.

I shared elsewhere my dismay for the demise of due process in the US. Whichever way we may feel about alleged criminals, I think you and I can agree that in countries like America the right to a fair trial is (or was) sacrosanct.

Is this the US you want to live in?

    I hope not.

Trump felt disrespected by other world leaders in his first term and during the Biden administration especially when many world leaders were caught on mike or quoted making disparaging comments about him.

The man has an ego and to hear something like that...he will seek revenge and it fits into his current behavior these first few months of his 2nd term similar to Hitler believed there's a reason why he gained control of the Reich...it was meant to be or the higher forces ordained it...empowering him to do what the hell he wanted to do as in above the law.

The way Trump is today is the way he wanted to behave in his first term but there were more controls back then such as the Supreme Court who would later give him "immunity" in 2024 and he had more Oligarchs supporting him in his 2nd term in comparison to his 1st term.

His trolling of Canada with comments like "use military force if necessary" is no different than his comments about wanting to find a way to have a 3rd term because he knows he can not complete the damage he wants to do to America and his foreign enemies in two terms because everything he does now can easily be reversed by executive orders if the Democrats win in 2028...

A President needs two consecutive terms to complete whatever agenda they have imagine they can do for America or to America.

I'm expecting more trolling by Trump towards the Supreme Court if they get in the way of his revenge tour. Commentary aimed at them that if a few of them were to die he could put others on the bench who are more aligned with his revenge tour.

Simply, he uses controversial trolling comments as a way to lay the ground works for achieving whatever twisted objectives he wants out of life along with hoping those he's aiming his trolling commentary will fear him or kiss his ass.

There's a very, very high bar for me to renounce my political choice, because it's still better than having to go with Kamala. That's how bad of a choice she was. If the Democrats had put someone who was moderately intelligent, moderately moderate, I'd have had a real tough time voting for Trump.

As for the demise of due process, you and I aren't going to agree on this one. I don't care if a non-citizen who is a gang member is exported back to their country without due process. At all.

If you did this with a US Citizen, I would very much care. Otherwise, the US is just treating him as an enemy combatant.
