What are your biggest strengths?

Discussion in 'Trading' started by rileysheehan___, Apr 27, 2022.

  1. Personally, my strengths that I’m working on improving are emotional awareness while in the trade and setup recognition, just wondering what other people’s are and how they’ve worked on making them stronger. This would help me see if anyone else is trying to improve these aspects in their trading too.

    Questions to whoever answers:
    - What did you notice in your trading?
    - What effects did they have on your trading?
    - How did you strengthen these strengths?
    - How did you confront your weaknesses while also keeping focused on your strengths?

  2. I'm persistent. God given, I guess.

First question should be, - is the trader profitable ?
Then one could compare the differences in perfomance and is there a pattern of similar traits among the winners.

The strong aspects of losers, are, irrelevant.

Unless one is searching for what not to do, which is equally important as well.

I have a written plan. I took the time to develope a process and have the discipline to follow it.

    - What did you notice in your trading?

There were times in the heat of the battle I didn't know what to do. I came up with an If/Then process that made decision making easier. I wrote it down!

    - What effects did they have on your trading?
The decisions I made on the fly were usually wrong and that showed up on the bottom line. Following the process made trading less stressful and improved the bottom line.

    - How did you strengthen these strengths?
I changed my thought process to consider a successful trade as one where I didn't deviate from my process. A trade that loses money is considered a successful trade as long as I followed my plan.

    - How did you confront your weaknesses while also keeping focused on your strengths?
I changed my focus from how much money I made, to how well I executed my trades. I only look at the total account balance, not how each trade is doing. I look at performance in percentage terms, not dollars.
