Anyone trained in dealing with gunshot knows a lung "blow out" is when the rupture in the lung allows air to enter the cavity surrounding the lungs. This is true, and poor old Joe doesn't know much about weapons, which is fine, he should just leave it to people who do to do the talking. Yes, a 9mm is more likely to cause a sucking chest wound, which is more likely to be fatal, which is a good thing considering when you shoot someone you're trying to kill them. So yea, I'll take the 9 over a 22 if I'm out to kill. Politicians arguing over caliber is more senseless rhetoric when we/they should be debating why are we trying to kill each other at such a prolific rate? It's a quick fix which will only result in killers becoming more creative.

If I'm buying a pistol for self defense, I want something that can knock an attacker down. At least a 9mm or .38 Special. A .22 round can be shrugged off by a strong attacker unless the victim gets lucky. It is the type of round fired by a tiny Derringer a woman can keep in her purse.
