"If this 83-year-old billionaire is right, one of the most important lessons of business school is pretty much wrong.

All that stuff about focusing on shareholders? Forget it, says Kazuo Inamori, entrepreneur, management guru and Buddhist priest. Spend your time making staff happy instead. He’s used this philosophy to establish electronics giant Kyocera Corp. more than five decades ago, create the $64 billion phone carrier now known as KDDI Corp., and rescue Japan Airlines Co. from its 2010 bankruptcy.

From Kyocera’s headquarters overlooking the hills and temples of the ancient capital of Kyoto, Inamori expresses doubts about western capitalist ways. His views are a reminder that many bastions of Japanese business don’t buy into Prime Minister Shinzo Abe’s plans to make companies more devoted to shareholders...."

Unfortunately, most Asian companies are driven by a long standing practice of nepotism and cronyism. So it's no surprise that shareholders get the short end of the stick.

  4. There should be a person under the desk of every office in America providing oral sex for our hard workers. Vote for me!

  6. Along the same lines, there's a great documentary called The Corporation. It's worth a watch but to sum it up it compares the profit driven corporation to a psychopath. Capitalism is great on one hand but not so great for sustainability of the earth's resources.

Capitalist companies do tend to be successful as they shed workers, tighten cost budgets etc. but at what costs to the environment and human misery.

Sad to see blatant human greed etc. in the richest state of the richest country is too mean to manage the pollution it creates. Sea creatures off the coast are in a poor way. A report showed 1 in 5 sea lions have cancer. It's too expensive they squawk to pipe in adequate water supplies to it's drought ridden or fire scorched areas.

What good is the extra money if it turns the home environment into a dungheap ?
We now see what the results are of endless fighting in the Middle East. Huge migrations of people. I see Russia has allowed in ............3, Yes just 3. But there is twice that number stuck in a corridor of Moscow airport. Shameful of the largest country on the planet.

Sorry about the over the top rant but nothing improves !!

  8. Russia is smart. When their Muzzie population started their inevitable uprising the Russians didn't contain them, they didn't negotiate with them, they killed them. They rolled up and they shelled cities until there wasn't anything to shell. Some Russians told me about it and they were laughing, laughing at the idiots in the US and Eurozone.

Talking about shareholders being ripped off, how about South African Gold shares. I was left some by my parents who had bought them before the WW2. They regularly send a cheque for 1 to 5 pennies on about 10 shares. They may have got rid of their racialism but they haven't got rid of their crooks who pocket dividends.
