Enrico Fermi was a major nuclear physicist, laying the foundations for the subsequent developments. That is what he is famous for. His question "Where's everybody?" popularized by Kaku, and the relative argumentation, is interesting too. Got me thinking that probably there really aren't that many intelligent species in the galaxy. Maybe there isn't anybody else.
