A very brave U.S. veteran soldier. I hope he also finds the time to help train Ukrainian soldiers about combat warfare in urban / rural communities...how to protect the civilians in those communities while still going on the offensive against Russian aggression.

Just as importantly, hopefully he's never captured by the Russian military because he will be used as a political pawn in the futures if/when Russian leaders and military leaders are held accountable for their war crimes on civilians.

I wonder what unit he served in the U.S. when he was on active duty prior to leaving the military and I wonder if he has combat experience from either Desert Storm, Iraq, or Afghanistan ???

His wife Tina tells DailyMail.com that being a soldier is 'in his DNA' and she supports his decision to fight

A former US Army staff sergeant who served two tours in Iraq and one in Afghanistan, Vasquez is the father of four adult children, with two sons and two step-sons, his wife Tina told DailyMail.com.

    - How is your family doing ?
    - Alright. Usual stuff, you know.
    - Dad is still in the military ?
    - Nah, retired.
    - Probably sitting on the couch now, enjoying well earned rest ?
    - Not really. Hes blowing up Russian tanks in east europe or something

Well done however I'd keep a more sullen tone and less what fun we had today killing your sons. Stating you are going to take out stragglers will be used for propoganda, at least hint at trying to take prisoners. Edited of course, he may have discussed this.

By how much that propaganda, would increase the % of new fresh cannon folder volunteers in Russian army, i wonder. My guess, a low %.

More likely, the effect that it would have , to anyone speaking english/russian, (the person had to be effected by propaganda in the first place),
    would be -
,,Why people, from multiple nations, are fighting for these neo-nazis ?
Why they don't understand that we came here to help ?''

(Confusion. The old model of reality is being shaken)

Although, i think, the percentage of such people is really low.

So low % against a small % of people, or even for better, it would have a reverse effect. Kinda no effect.

The person, in the other hand, who might die any given moment, gets the highest reward from recognition, sharing the achievement on social media.

It's like that research/study on big companies, where majority of the simple workers would choose public recognition instead of cash bonus.

  6. As you know it takes a certain amount of bravado to stay in the fight, but the whole image of war is fun comes at a cost. There is a part of me that suspects these veterans volunteering for this action are the ones who walk around lost after their experience in combat, looking for that period of time when life on the edge was providing the rush they now can't find. I admire and feel sorry for them at the same time.

Yes, that might be his case as well, yet, there are twice as young individual volunteers, who chose to do the same.
It might be that 50% (or more) of that which unites both age groups, despite of differences, it's that burning desire to do the right thing & the warrior's DNA.

I was thinking about this profession/hobby, of the finance, luckily for us, age has no impact. Soldiers, firefighters, athletes and so on, are not so lucky. Age puts the ,,expiration date'' stamp on them.

Doesn't mean that you can't steal tho :
    (smiles)

Don't want to paint it all in purple tho, some of the volunteers, including the ones from US, recently reported about how dis-organized everything is there, that they received no bullet-proof wests & only 10 round magazines, up to a point, where they had no other choice but to go back home. Shit happens.

My concern is its pretty much the first exposure for Russians seeing an American soldier killing their own. It carries a lot more weigh due to novelty. He may not have the patches but he looks and sounds the part.

To them America killing Iraqis, Afgans and whatever was fine, they however think as much of themselves as any of the big headed nations :)
They, the propoganda bombarded, think they are the good guys and Buy1 is only average brainwashed pedantic nationist by their standards.

It will just fix a lot of bayonets in the minds of Russians I think.
