This guy might enter the room riding an elephant. What are your thoughts? Are you planning to add some chips there? https://www.reuters.com/technology/...-super-intelligence-exist-by-2035-2024-10-29/
Well..he prolly also taking about Ampere corp. But Masayoshi Son himself may have already killed that company by his greed and idiocy. When Politics meets the markets..I stay away. Oracle also a grey oldtimer...looking for a new angle and place among AI. Ellison in the thick of the Hated Nashville healthcare crime family and doesnt even realize. The stargate was a PR from a long time ago..re-hashed for mango. Mango also doesnt have a clue about any of this technology. However..Arm and Ampere may have finally developed an actual AI CPU..instead of using a GPU as a stop gap. Blackwell not looking very healthy these days either. I think NVDA had its day..Trump looking to work with someone closer..within the Big Business old Boy Super Pac family. I dont see NVDA or SMCI or Dell playing the roles they did under Biden. But I do see unending hollow, make believe AI and AI Healthcare Hype coming from the whitehouse for the next 4 years. Trump inherited a Toxic healthcare industry. Maybe we can put some band-aids and some lipstick.
If the future of computing is akin to the GPU model aka massive parallel processing, then obviously the ARM architecture is the future of APUs (CPUs with an embedded graphics chips). Ampere has some cool server boards with ARM chips that have like >1000 cores. Lots of server processes use that model but consumer usage heretofore has been the single core model since historically applications were built to use 1 high throughput core vs. 1000s of low powered cores. AMD's Ryzen chips have a lot of cores especially their Threadripper CPUs but most people aren't utilizing 64 or 128 cores for their applications. I guess Apple solved that to an extent but their ecosystem is really walled garden and most non-Apple applications aren't usable on the M[1-4] silicon. I think Microsoft did port their OS on to the Qualcomm X-Elite architecture but it is still buggy. Microsoft has a beta version of Windows 11 on the M1 silicon.
Yes. The real innovation in VMware & other virtualization was the partitioning of GPU use in the enterprise. You can use 1 GPU and split the hardware so more than 1 user can use it. I'd be interested if you can have a virtual desktop with a robust graphics interface. If that happens then these hyperscalers can rent desktop usage. Security will still be a problem though. I wouldn't want my desktop data on a cloud that can collapse or be used for AI farming.
Softbank is looking to buy Ampere according to Bloomberg. With ARM & Ampere, Softbank could use the GPU model to change the server landscape for parallel computing at least for server CPUs. If Apple wasn't so obsessed with their closed garden approach they could have done it themselves.
Son will succeed because of ARM. It is not because he is a visionary or a genius. He has the whole market for mobile devices. https://www.statista.com/statistics/1132112/arm-market-share-targets/ And that was a chart for 2022. They have increased their presence by now. If they can start building GPUs for budget mobile phones we will see great power in a gadget that you can hold with one hand. That power with an AI engine might change the way we use mobile phones altogether. I think Softbank will not try to compete with software vendors like Apple, but at the hardware level, they have no competition.
https://www.channelnewsasia.com/bus...-computing-65-billion-ai-focused-deal-5012061 This is very very interesting News. Ampere might be the only company that can compete with NVDA. And its an entirely different chip..a chip actually designed for AI..not a GPU. I had thought that Massie Son had stolen most of the design from Ampere and was using it with a possible new ARM chip. But that doesnt seem to be what happened. Ampere was supposed to have gone Public around 2022 and the IPO was postponed for unknown reasons. He will probably spin it aff as an independent pubic company once he showcases their unique Chips and gets large orders from Scalers and AI data center investments. And I believe the timing was because of the Trump - Massie Son deals and the Trump direction of AI (away from Taiwan's companies). Ampere will probably agree to build its main Fab Center in USA and become a US based company regarding both chip design and Fabrication. This would follow Trump's AI direction and garner large attention and large orders as a US based company.
