Interesting article. I know some here are not fond of Breitbart... but the article was not written by them. Washington Post: Democrats 'Gloomy' About Populist GOP in 2024 (breitbart.com) "Democrats got Joe Biden into the White House but are alarmed at the political power of President Donald Trump’s populist economic platform, admits the pro-Democrat Washington Post. “Party strategists now speak privately with a sense of gloom and publicly with a tone of concern as the election results become clearer,” said the December 27 print report by political writer Michael Scherer"
I’m old enough to remember when conservatives used to chastise liberals for being populist when they weren’t. Now, to see the GOP embrace populism, is something indeed. What I will say is it will be interesting to see if anti union, pro corporation republicans get re elected in 2022. How long republican politicians sell guns and anti immigration rhetoric while undermining working people? It will also be interesting to see if democrats rally around Biden and if he can convince moderate republicans to support democrats down ballot.
I thought union type workers won the election for Trump in the swing states in 2016? And what about Big Tech? Are they not corporations that wanted the Dems to win in 2020? I doubt if gun selling is a big factor in the elections. People on the Dem side of the fence probably own guns also?
Populism ruins everything. Its is pure cancer to society left or right wing, does no matter, either fall to promises of everything they want with no consequences.
Just proves the Democrats know they committed massive election fraud. How else can you explain them losing minority voters to President Donald Trump and still Joe Biden winning? President Donald Trump got more votes cast for him this time around. In the November 3, 2020 elections, 75 million voted for Donald Trump, November 8, 2016, 60 million voted for him yet, he still lost? Also, they would have us believe Joe Biden is more popular than Barack Obama? Managing to get more votes than him when his rallies have a hard time getting 30 people to attend? Hilarious.
Ultimately the TRUTH may matter. And if it does, the GOP, as it has been both reconstituted as the anarcho-capitalist party --- by those that incorrectly call themselves "libertarians"--- and also deserted by traditional Republicans, is in big trouble. The article, at least the Breitbart edited version, mis-characterizes much. As just one example, Democrats are emphatically not pro-immigration nearly so much as they are pro immigrant; there is a huge difference here. As another example, wages for Blue Collar workers are an issue in the Democratic party, just as they are in the GOP, but the positions in the too parties are 180 degrees apart. Democrats know Blue Collar wages must be brought up to "a living wage"; Republicans see higher wages as a threat to business profitability and want to hold Blue Collar wages down. They are OK with government subsidy of low, Blue Collar wages because it amounts to a subsidy of business. Again, a stark difference between the Parties.. The Republicans, those remaining, can be counted on to continue to lie to their Blue Collar base, but the base can not be counted on to remain brain dead. It would be a big mistake for either party to assume people are dumber than they are. The contrast between the competent Biden Administration and the corrupt, incompetent Trump administration will be so evident that their may be no GOP of consequence four years from now. It is fairly likely Trump will face a barrage of indictments over the next three years. The problem Trump will then face is the problem of every criminal: once they are on the ropes they have surprisingly few steadfast friends. It is simply a reflection of their own reliability. The greatest mistake of Donald Trump's life was his decision to run for President. He ran as a stunt to increase the value of "his brand". He did not expect to win. He won. Now he's in a heap of trouble.
The greatest mistake of Donald's life was his life. Waste of that energy. Blame the universe, man. Because there is no other explanation for people like him.
