“No one would be liable for mistakes, for submitting research in good faith that turns out to be wrong, or for raising honest disagreements,” Warren wrote on the website Medium. “But where companies engage in egregious and intentional efforts to mislead agencies in an effort to prevent our government from understanding and acting on facts, they will face criminal liability,” she added.
And who gets to decide the difference between "good faith mistakes" and intentional efforts to mislead? Answer, endless government investigations and congressional committees, that's who. One activist driven frivolous lawsuit after another to cripple corporations and log jam the courts and government.
The federal agencies when the know they have been intentionally deceived and this has happened many times. More and more owned politicians want agencies to use corporate funded research instead of federally funded but without such laws, the agencies don't have the powers they need to push back on falsified research.
No, I just don't trust a government that with ever increasing frequency bends to the whims of every lunatic fringe group who has a complaint.
Makes my point, politicians are bought and paid for, not only by corporations though. Activist organizations also have powerful lobbies which push spineless politicians to cave in just to keep a voting block happy. It's a delemnia we have in dealing with untrustworthy corporations and a corrupt government.
So then you must have been okay with the "research" that the tobacco companies were putting out years ago denying a link with cancer and heart disease. You know, the way that oil companies are doing with climate change denial presently. (In many cases, they're using the same "scientists" that the tobacco boys used. Really.)
Are you intentionally missing my posts that state I don't trust corporations? The entire system is corrupt, all of it. Corporations want to make money at any cost, and government pretends to care about people, but really just wants to regulate and control. Put your faith in either and you're destined for disaster. So what's the solution you ask? There isn't one, we're fucked. Passed the tipping point years ago and while the fall has been slow to develop, relatively speaking, it will now accelerate as the shear momentum of corruption and abject stupidity bring us to the inevitable crash. Band-Aids are all we have left to put on a severed artery. I'll probably be dead before it happens, but I cannot see this going past 2040/50 without a total collapse.
