I want to put, say, a 24 inch monitor, preferably a two in one, on a wall in my office. That's idea number 1. Next I want to find a site, service or broker, that would allow me a LIVE ES quote in LARGE numbers, like a digital clock. So, any ideas? I don't want to break the bank, but I do realize there may be some cost.
"Large" numbers will be a function of your display... not a broker. You could mount a 50" (or larger), UHD TV on the wall... lots of 50" and larger TVs available at various cost according to quality. You could mount 2x, "TV as monitor" as well. One of my displays is a 43", UHD (I also like big charts) which I view from "across my game room". It's very good, but you might like an even bigger one.
Don't need that size for the office, but thanks for the general idea. I presume that's cheaper than a hangable two in one computer. Any idea on data sources. Or just use my broker (IB) as best as I can?
Used to be several brokers had "free data and free trading platform". Not so much these days. I use AMP Futures with Sierra Chart*. You should expect to pay $20/mo minimum for data and charting if you don't find a free source. *Sierra is excellent with live charts.
You are trying to get a live quote displayed on the wall in a decent size, so you can quickly see it from anywhere in the room, correct? Interesting problem. I think I have found a quick and cheap solution. Get a 24" flat TV (not a monitor) 100 bucks. I assume you have an older laptop around, or you can use an older phone (as a computer) and download a stock app. (or use your brokers app) Get a cheap camera ($40), aim it at the stock quote from a close distance and display the picture on the mounted TV. Voila!!! 140 bucks and you got what you wanted. If you can zoom in on the price and use screen mirroring, you don't even need the camera, just an old phone with wifi.
using this you can create a voice to tell you what the price is on intervals without looking at anything - also you can assign different trading patterns to music so you can hear the market trading. i have the nyse $tick as a bass note when it hit's certain levels. anyway i look at so much stuff that i had to get things talking and singing to me otherwise you will always be missing stuff. In the Ubuntu operating system is a so-called extension available called "Stocks Extension". It lets you choose stocks, futures, and basically everything which is available on Yahoo Finance. The selected symbols are then shown as a ticker tape on your screen. I don't know whether the makers of that program can make a custom version which shows a monitor-sized version of the ticker price.
