I guess I miss how Venezuela is a pillar of human rights compared to Saudi, in terms of who we are willing to beg for oil. Piss off the Saudi's and kiss another dictator's ass, yeah makes sense.
Or we could just get production up and running here. What a crazy idea, I guess the environmental impact is different in other nations than in the U.S. How about we look at Europe and realize that the all-in proposition to alternative energy is moronic. Build into it and quit punishing and probably killing the people who can least afford it.

You bought The GOP kool aid.

US is the biggest energy producer in the world.

The largest energy production increase ever came under Obama, with energy production increasing around 90%.

Energy production increased by 10% under Trump

Ok, I guess you are in attack mode. Not a GOP'er, not a Dem, I try to take time to look at the whole picture not the slant one side tries to sell the public. That was part of the point of the Washinton post. He brought up the idea of our country being controlled by narratives' put in place by the parties, as opposed to the whole truth.
I actually didn't say anything about production under anyone in particular. My point is we are out there begging and trying to buy oil production from dictators and despot regimes when we could be improving our own production right here in the U.S.
I actually think I read the U.S. was third or so in the world currently, down from number one, but it is close enough. Again that wasn't the point. We could be more self sufficient, and not giving money to murdering regimes.

Ok, I think I see why you are getting we are so high in the world, as your numbers include natural gas. We aren't out begging for natural gas, it's the oil.

It goes back and forth a little bit for oil.In March 2022 US was #1 for oil.

You criticized The US should for not producing enough oil, which was another way of criticizing Biden/and Democrats for not producing enough oil.

Oil production under Biden and Trump are about the same and no Republican President comes close to the oil production increase under Obama.

I guess like most stats, they are variable depending on who's measuring and how. I saw anywhere from one to eleven in different articles.
Not a specific attack on Biden as far as production goes, but going out and begging for more when we can have more in our own country without enriching despots would be a better path, at least to me. We maybe number one, or even number 3, but we have the capacity to be more self sufficient until we get a handle on the best path to an alternative, at least for the biggest use of oil. Oil and its by products go into tons of other things, so it can't be just dropped. We are in no way ready to jump off the oil addiction, and the path should be one of common sense and safety for all, not agenda based.
As far as politics I try to stay open to the good and bad of whoever we have decided to stick ourselves with and move on from there. I don't particularly think Biden is that bright or good as president, but he is the president. I had hoped Trump might scare the professional politicians to start doing better, but he is Trump, a total moron and loser and can't help himself. All he really wants, is to help himself and have everyone agree with him that he is some kind of god.

Who has Is oil production at 11?The top spot fluctuates but The US is nowhere near 11.

I agree with begging others to increase production. The US should demand not beg for Saudi oil production and with the exception of war use every option available to force them to produce.

As far as US oil production we are close to max levels.Biden's polices aren't holding back massive US oil production like The GOP says.Republicans biggest attack is stopping the keystone pipeline but would have only increased worldwide oil production by 1%.

I am not voting for Biden in 2024 but GOP attacks saying that he is destroying US oil production is not true.

Simply put, the power of hindsight is a bitch. At the time Biden came in, world affairs were fairly OK, so cancelling drilling leases that Trump had expanded on national parks/public lands (as in we own them) made sense. The only difference domestic production would have made is if we had ramped up production and the Russians had invaded, people would be bitching about why 1.50$ (as if) gas is now 2.90$ instead of the current price point and big oil would be yelling how dems are kneecapping subsidies and tax cut legislation to "ramp up" domestic production.

Keep in mind most of the GOP/big oil talking points are merely political as Biden didn't really impact domestic oil production levels beyond capping some projected growth that Trump had started. I am not sure the Trump operations would be pumping at this point in time quite yet either.

People also ignore the "crack gap" due to refineries set up for Russian sour grade crude. These cannot handle sweet w/o retrofitting (am not quite sure what our current domestic grade is), so everyone and their sister is after whatever refined supply is available. Simply put, gas prices are an easy political target because people feel it but don't understand it.

As for relying on dictators, Venezuela is definitely the better of most evils but agree that putting money in the coffers of tyrants is what has us in this mess in the first place. Not like big oil ever gave a flying fuck (Tillerson, aka Trump's Sec. of state and exCEO of exxon) was butt buddies w/Putin and even got an award from the Kremlin.
