Using Custom .wav files with ninja

Discussion in 'Trading Software' started by jonbig04, Oct 15, 2009.

  1. Some people on here have said that they substituted their own .wav files with the default ninja voices and sounds (stop filled, alerts, etc). Ninja says this isn't supported.

Has anyone done this? If so can they tell me how?

I do it in custom strategies and market analyzer. I believe what you may have read was that they don't recommend that you use custom .wav files to overwrite the default audio files (as in non user interface scripts) and will not support it.

  3. yea I figured thats what they meant when they said they didn't "support" it.

Can someone walk me through it? I have the .wav files but have no clue how to replace the default ones. My trading is very simple so my knowledge of ninja software is pretty limited.

You're not necessarily 'replacing' the default sound files, you are simply calling up a custom .wav file when you program a strat or market analyzer. For example:

You program a simple strategy to play a sound file whenever the MACD Fast line crosses zero. You use a custom sound file that is unique to that particular strat so as not to get confused by using all the default sound files such as " cash register ringing", or "Alert 1 (buzzer)" , and so forth. Furthermore, you can use "cross above" and "cross below" in a number of computer generated voices easily found on the web. I actually use some old Quake .wav files like "Rampage!", and "Humiliation" for certain situations.

Program Files > NT 6.5 > Sounds > Place .wav file here.

I'm not sure how large a file you can use, and I keep mine short and sweet.

  5. Hmmm, that sounds simple, but I have no idea how to program a strategy. The closest I get to anything like that is alerts and automatic targets.
