This Trump didn't even wait till he got into office to throw away his key campaign pledge. Remember this ridiculous exchange.
One thing that everyone who has ever dealt with Trump will tell you is that the big promise is always followed by the fine print.
Well I certainly never bought it in the first place. There were a whole lot of Trump supporters who believed him though.
Before everyone piles on with the liberal media propaganda that he already broke his word, let's give him a chance and see if he follows through on tariffs or taxes or whatever to pay for the wall. Trump has already kept thousands of jobs from going to Mexico and he's not even sworn in yet. The damage done with 8 years of Obama can't be fixed overnight! Give Trump a chance.
Did you believe he'd do his best to make Mexico pay via loss of U.S. manufacturing jobs and such to Detroit? So far it looks as if he's going ahead and making Mexico "pay" that way at least. I agree it's not direct payment and may be nickels and dimes toward the actual bill but it's the 'right' direction.
Nothing wrong with "USA First-Capitalism" as part of the repair plan to years (not just Obama's years) of dismantling U.S.A. manufacturing. How much prices rise, is debatable, since factors such as patriotism, quality, U.S. deregulation, and others are as yet unknowns. He's got a tough go admittedly.
Probably money well spent. I'm sure he can extract some tariffs from Mexico indirectly that will pay for it. Unfortunately they will probably get really good at digging tunnels. If the penalties for illegally crossing into the US are severe, rather than giving criminals the gift of free health care and citizenship, more people will think twice.
Sure if you want to have this US first policy, why not do it? If some company wants to invest overseas they should get a phone call from the President and receive threats. Why stop there? Why don't we extend this to private citizens? Why don't we ban international travel for US citizens while we are at it? Think about all that money that is spent by Americans traveling abroad. It would be a huge boost to the economy if we could keep that money in the US. BTW, thanks for your participation in the conversation. Why don't you treat yourself to a Donald Trump tie. They are some of the nicest ties that the Chinese have made, IMHO.
