I want to try to have a civil debate. Republicans have always been for small government. I get it. The US debt is unsustainable. I get it. But this US administration (just picking a few things at random): has a president who cares only about himself. He is not there to "fix" things. He is there because he risked serious jailtime and now will try and get out of it, no matter the consequences for the nation has given a blank cheque to wreck havoc to the federal government to a billionaire drug addict and a few kids, none of which have undergone any appropriate security clearance. God knows where personal data for millions of Americans is now has turned its back on its long time friends and allies, and as result it's being retaliated against in terms of boycotts, while at the same time has cozied up to Vladimir Putin (!) while stating that appointments should be based on merit, is appointing people with dubious qualifications into key roles a far superior, much, MUCH, better choice for Republican president would have been Mike Pence Oh, by the way, this just in This is the "genius" who's using his wrecking ball disrupting the lives of real people and now he wants them back? Give me a break. There is a right way for a Republican administration to lead America. This isn't it.
But if there's even 10% waste in the FAA... we gotta do what we gotta do—gotta break eggs to make an omelet!
They fired the FAA air traffic controllers along with other key FAA officials while ignoring facts that FAA already were under staffed of air traffic controllers, managers, investigators...employee retention difficulty because of the high stress levels, and many forced to work overtime after an exhausting day of work... Elon Musk is not able to admit that DOGE and Trump fucked up while lying when they say they will be transparent and admit when they got it wrong...they got it wrong about the FAA as Musk aims his twitter posts to "retirees" instead of apologizing to those they fired and then giving those fired better work conditions, benefits, and higher wages. Unfortunately, many air traffic controllers (they are Federal employees) are now looking for other employment that will treat them a lot better than the Trump administration. This increases the risk of flying in America. I plan to do RVing this summer going forward when traveling from Canada to the United States instead of risking flying to the United States with the Trump administration in charge of this chaos that they created for air travelers. wrbtrader
Can't, I have property and family there. And... the Rocky Mountains ("the marrow of the world") are there.
"Contrary to DOGE’s inflated claims, the group’s gross savings so far, which are concentrated in the minority of the budget that is domestic discretionary spending, amount to a rounding error." The group’s decision to take a metaphorical chain saw to the IRS has effectively decimated the government’s ability to collect revenue (taxes)—moves that could actually increase the nation’s debt. Quite the cluster and effectively saving zero.
I'm a citizen of the U.S., Canada and France. I grew up in the United States, raised in a U.S. military family, and I'm a U.S. military veteran. Most of my relatives live in the United States and my 2nd home is in the United States. On top of that, my oldest is at college (cadet) in the United States. Simply, not visiting the United States as a Boycott is not an option for me. Yet, I have other ways to Boycott: I plan to purchase my first RV and a newer model of my auto in Canada instead of from the United States. Most of my high end shopping will be Canada instead of in the United States. For example, I was going to purchase antique French Armoire cabinets in the U.S. for my home in the United States...remodeling the foyer area. Instead, I will now purchase the two French Armoire cabinets in Canada and then transport them to my home in the United States. My middle child (son) and his Jewish-Asian girlfriend are now changing their plans to attend college in Canada instead of the United States. They both had initially planned to attend either University of Chicago or Cornell. In contrast, my youngest (daughter) has several years to decide but she's still planning to follow her mom's footsteps by attending West Point Academy. American friends and relatives will now spend their vacations in Canada instead of the United States. Two more U.S. military buddies are now looking for a 2nd home (vacation home) in Canada instead of the United States. I purchased new Rowing Sculls for my daughter and myself...made in Canada (not made in the United States). All my rowing equipment will be purchased in Canada instead of the United States. Unfortunately, all the stuff my spouse and I need to do with the VA can only be accomplished in the United States. I've been getting more calls from military veterans and active duty friends in the United States. Some are well trained and a few in law enforcement. They do not like what's going on in our country that we served and some of our friends died while serving. It's not a coincidence that many of the VA Hospitals in the United States have not put up the photos of President Trump and Vice President Vance but they did remove the photos of the former President Biden and Vice President Harris. In contrast, accordingly to my friends, the 6 military bases (two abroad) I was associated with all have Trump/Vance/Hagseth and others photos up on the walls of headquarter buildings. In addition, the U.S. Embassy here in Canada has Trump/Vance/Hagseth photos on the wall although the embassy staff aren't too happy these days. In the past, when there's a change of elected officials...photos of the new U.S. President and Vice President were on the walls within a few days after Inauguration at all government buildings, U.S. Embassy, Military base headquarters, VA Hospitals, ROTC programs, and schools of U.S. military families abroad...visible as soon as you walk through the front doors or along the nearest hallway... There's delays with this Trump administration photos at most of the above mentioned locations. By the way, ironically, I'm using U.S. dollars for my Canadian purchases because the U.S. dollar is still KING for global transactions regardless who sits in the White House chair...I'm OK with that. wrbtrader
I've done many backcountry trips in the RMNP. Hiked up to lawn lake, camped there for a couple of days and day hiked from there to the Saddle. Amazing beauty. Also did Thunder Lake to name a few. One of the nicest parks I've ever been to and I've been to many over the years.
I once backpacked from Vail to Estes Park. In RMNP I was out of food and lived on trout I caught every evening. I learned later I was eating a protected trout!
