US eyes ways to hire more legal, temporary immigrant workers: Larry Kudlow

  1. I think the idea is to allow invited immigrants into the country who presence is documented along with their departure being documented and for productive purposes.

Big difference between that and just allowing unknowns to drift into the country for whatever reasons.

Employers should have to share in the responsibility for making sure they leave
according to schedule by posting bond or similar at the time they are hired into the country.

  2. So, they create the problem, and they then devise what appears to be a re-birth of the Trump administrations version of the Braceros Program.

  3. If you define the problem as not allowing uncontrolled entry of illegals into the country, then yes, Trump has created a problem.

You want us to let in migrants like they do in Spain?

  6. Yes but they don't. The republican amnesty lobby, ie the entire leadership, won't even allow a vote on mandatory e-verify.

Come back to me when we have a wall, no bogus asylum claims, no chain migration, no visa lottery and mandatory e-verify. Then we can talk about more legal immigration.

  7. Yup. And I dont consider temporary labor to be immigration. And when it is addressed as part of a comprehesive bill, there needs to be posting of bond etc to make sure that temporary labor does not turn into immigration. Sometimes old fashion bounty hunting can be a good thing.

  8. The problem is that is never going to happen. The employers don't want the responsibility, therefore republicans will not ask for it. The open borders fanatics call it slavery to have such restrictions. They do have a point, ie that such guest workers are very vulnerable to exploitation. But an employer would basically have to keep them locked up to guarantee they wouldn't skip. They could withhold wages but I'm not sure how far you can go legally in that.
