“Please feel free to call us, the police, or do it yourself if you have the gun — you have my support,” Duterte said, warning of an extensive illegal drug trade that involves even the country's police.

I am unaware of how bad the problem is in the Philippines. Is it like Mexico?

If there are cartels that involve the police, it sounds like corruption is rampant. If that is the case, how long do you think the new president-elect will survive?

Until people start murdering completely innocent people and afterwards exclaiming "I thought he was a drug dealer and Duterte said it was okay".
He has some good ideas when it comes to going around the endless bureaucracy in the Philippines but this isn't one of them.

  5. sounds more like somebody didn't pay the bribe on time and when the bullets start flying and the rival gangs are lying dead in the street there is now a reasonable explanation. I like it. "Do it my way or I'll sic the people on you."
