TA or FA? Edge or Psychology? Subjective or Objective?

An attempt to see through the limitations of concepts.

  2. Think of the market as a mountainous sketch -- it will help you see, or put, things in perspective

I have often done this out driving. Wait for retracement against main slope and get in as mountain going back in direction of trend.

  5. It feels like ''get down and dirty'' and ''risk little'' sort of contradicting each other. Getting dirty actually means risk your ass when it comes to trading or investin, no?

My down and dirty is totally different than yours, Mine is programming long hours and don't dream about the results but to seek out patterns that are more probable.

For us as individuals, existence is experienced as variety - a variety of objects and subjects, of perceptions and perceivers, of differing ideas about the what and why of things, of cause and effect, of the known and the unknown. Limitless fluctuations create infinite configurations of existence within an endless spectrum of multiplicity.

This multiplicity renders our experience of the world as dynamic and novel. And while multiplicity can be a source of pleasure and joy, it more often than not becomes a source of pain and sorrow. Why is that?

Because I identify myself as a limitation bound in time and space, instead of recognizing myself as an expression of the transcendent unlimited. This contradiction is the primary distortion. It underlies all movement in consciousness. Once this dynamic of false identity is in place, all that is perceived as being outside the bounds of my limitation is either desired or feared. Desired when it promises to expand my limitation or feared if it threatens to reduce my existing limitation even more. This is the primal urge. And the power behind it is as great as the power that created this universe. Nobody can overcome it. It will cease driving an individual from one state of mind to another only once the individual recognizes that he is not a separate and limited being. Only once he recognizes the underlying unity behind all diversity.

Desire and fear cannot be conquered by a conqueror. For the trader, this is valuable information.

This journal is an exercise in reflecting upon my own distortions via three conceptual prisms - The Trader, The Underlying Asset and The Market. I will use the concept of value as a means to integrate the three prisms into one unity. Meditating on integration can help dissolve some distortion, but it can never be enough. In the end, concepts of integration and unity are themselves limiting. But like they say, the stick that is used to prod the fire to burn well, is itself finally burnt in the end.
