So here you are a loyal customer for years and years and years and guess what, they now what to price you out of your unlimited data plan, yes you heard that right, PRICE you out of it, More corporate greed by the big guys to all their true loyal paying customers who were once "grandfathered" into their plans with those prices....This is probably going to be the new trend as well when it comes to those grandfathered in to unlimited data plans that loyal customers took years ago, Im grandfathered into unlimited data that I have had since 2007, I have a feeling ATT is going to do the same exact thing, for those not on contract the hike takes place immediately, if you are on a 2 year contract once the contract is up it immediately takes place...this will take a monthly bill to well over $120 a month....Sprint recently raised their prices as well $10 a month for unlimited, they felt their prices were too cheap so they thought lets raise them....so all those nickels and dimes you were saving on that gas the last month is going right into your new "UNGRANDFATHERED" data plans next month!!!! Verizon to raise price of grandfathered unlimited data plans by $20 Verizon doesn't want to be the bad guy and completely get rid of its old unlimited data plans, so it's pursuing a new strategy: price customers out of them. The Verge has learned that Verizon will soon raise the monthly cost of grandfathered unlimited data plans by an additional $20 per line to $49.99. A friendly tipster clued us in on the change, and when contacted for comment, a Verizon spokesperson confirmed the news. The new rate will apply beginning in November. To be clear, $49.99 is the cost of unlimited data alone and is added on top of your monthly voice and text plan. I've got the Nationwide Talk & Text 450 plan ($59.99), so this change would raise my monthly payment to $109.98, and that's before Verizon's extra fees and charges. If you've got more or unlimited voice minutes, you'll pay more each month. For customers determined to remain on the unlimited plan, Verizon will now let them purchase new smartphones through its monthly device payment plan; previously, you could only buy phones outright at their full retail cost. That's oneupside in this news. VERIZON WILL LET YOU PAY FOR PHONES MONTHLY AND KEEP UNLIMITED DATA Note that this change only impacts customers who are out of contract; if you're signed to an existing two-year agreement, you'll keep your current rate for the term of that contract. Once you go month-to-month, the $49.99 data fee takes effect. Verizon also says that government and corporate accounts won't be included in the price hike. Assuming they haven't done so already, the move will force many Verizon customers to weigh just how much unlimited data means to them — and what they're willing to pay to keep it. The carrier recently unveiled simplified data packages (S/M/L/XL/XXL), and this decision is obviously meant to drive consumers onto those newer plans. And if you still refuse to relinquish unlimited data at this price, you're probably burning through a lot of data every month. Verizon knows that, and now the company is happy to make you pay more for such freedom. Verizon says less than one percent of its customer base is tied to unlimited data plans, so the numbers are dwindling. Only two of the four major US wireless carriers still offer unlimited data plans; T-Mobile's costs $80 per month, and Sprint recently announced it'll be increasing the cost of its unlimited option to $70. Verizon stopped selling unlimited data to new customers way back in 2011. http://www.theverge.com/2015/10/8/9478093/verizon-increasing-unlimited-data-price
Simple the fact that when you sign a contract for unlimited data for such a price, say $30 a month with unlimited data, that once "GRANDFATHERED" in that if any changes are taken place after the fact that you should be able to receive what you were grandfathered in for which is the agreed upon price of $30 and Unlimited Data!!!
Its the principle....Hey $100 is still $100, I cut corners as much as I can....After reading an article about how 1/2 of americans have zero in savings if I can grab an extra $40 bucks in savings from my monthly phone bill I will..
I had att unlimited international data for $300/month for 6 lines--- when i settled in FLA and wasn't going to be traveling much so I dropped it-- dumbest thing I have done-- now I pay near that without the unlimited international data--- sucks
If you all are the "successful trader" as you all claimed to be, do ypu really care about the $20 rise in the phobe bill? I know most of wall Street traders can't even remember how much they pay for their cars and houses, albeit the tiny phone bill.
I don't think any of this stuff is forever. I'm sure in the fine print is their ability to change their terms whenever they like. Would you expect them to give you unlimited data 30 years from now? The only thing that ever crimps their ability to just do whatever they want is the negative PR. If they let the unlimited folks get grandfathered a few times...they know the writing is on the wall. Once the new rate folks greatly outnumber the grandfathered, then it's done.
So then what's the use of the word grandfathered when pertaining to such a situation like this when in reality it doesn't exist......yes 10..30 years ...yes you are "grandfathered" into the terms and conditions you originally signed into...
Well, perhaps get used to it by making bitchy diatribes shorter and go with a cheaper plan. Or, do more income producing work to pay for your trolling.
