I will post this for the benefit of the Canadians- Freddy Foreskin being Exhibit A- who spend all their time following Trump and are not up to speed on their own country. Canada has a regularly scheduled election next year. But under a parliamentary system if there is a loss of support that leads to a lack of confidence vote, an election can be called earlier. Of late, Trudeau does not have a majority vote in parliament but a third party- the NDP- collaborates with Trudeau's Liberal Party to get him majority support. Problem is, the NDP has just withdrawn their support. It's the last thing Trudeau wants because he is down, wayyy down, in the polls. He wanted to ride it out until the election scheduled next year, hoping he could change the picture by then. That does not create an automatic no-confidence vote, but creates a scenario where is 100% predictable that one is coming very soon. As I said the other day, the center of gravity in Canada is shifting from Ottawa and Montreal over to Calgary. Calgary is Trump country. You may recall my saying Trump may go up for a visit to "help out." Trudeau's primary opponent, the Opposition Leader in the Conservative party, hails from Calgary. Freddy Foreskin and Rear-Ender/Nine Ender would be stressed if they knew this. Not to worry though. They are following what Liz Cheney had for breakfast. Another one of Trudeau's canaries in the coal mine just died. MORE TO COME. New blow for Canada's Trudeau after his party loses long-held seat In his ninth year as prime minister, Trudeau’s approval rate has plummeted from 63% when he was first elected to 28% in June of this year, according to one poll tracker. Opinion polls suggest the Liberals are on track to lose the next election to the Conservatives, the current official opposition in Canada's parliament. https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/c20m7dn3y3do
Be careful Canucks. Don't get too cocky. Don't get all your news from Freddy Foreskin. MooseDump Village where he lives is not necessarily the bellwether for Canada. LILLEY: What to make of the wild swings in federal poll numbers The Conservatives had a big lead, then suddenly some polls showed the Liberals taking over, at least if Mark Carney was leader, now the Conservatives have a big lead again. https://torontosun.com/opinion/columnists/what-to-make-of-the-wild-swings-in-federal-poll-numbers
Short answer is no. Some argue though that there is a rare occasion when a person in his situation could end out VP. The argument is that the constitution says he can only be "elected" twice. But it is argued that he could still be appointed VP. Say for example the next president has vp who steps down or dies, the argument is that the president could still choose Trump to be his vp because in that case he would not be elected. Crazy yes but crazy happens sometimes too. We had one president who was never elected by anyone. Gerald Ford. Nixon ran with Agnew who resigned due to a scandal. So Nixon just picked Ford to be the new VP. and the Senate confirm it or however that process works......and then Nixon resigned. Then voila Ford became president. No campaign, no popular vote, no electoral vote, no election.
