The U.S. Department of Education has just released it's latest ranking of international education systems (Program for International Student Assessment - "PISA") and performance of U.S. students just continues to deteriorate on both absolute and relative terms. http://www.zerohedge.com/news/2016-...the+survival+rate+for+everyone+drops+to+zero)
I know its ridiculous. Kids in countries where english is not their native language but taught in school as a 2nd or 3rd language have scored much higher in a few comprehensive english tests over the years.
the scores are much worse for US students than the tables show. take a look at countries that are ranked below the US. do you really think that students in these countries are more ill educated than those in the US. my guess is that they don't even give this particular test to children in city ghettoes.
Many countries teach English as a 2nd language as they should. English is the international language of finance. While many Americans could benefit from being fluent in 1 or more other major languages, our need to do so isn't so great with English being our native.
Poor Math can work in your favor, I went to fast food for a salad and girl rang it up seeing the $20 for $10.39 charge and I gave her $20.50, she had already rang it up for just the $20, she was stumped as far as what to give me back, she went to get manager and left drawer wide open, manager in his 30s said to me what is problem and I said I waiting for my change, he looked at her then me and gave me back the $20 and said Thank You please come back. I said of course I will and tell my friends.
Our kids do so poorly because we can afford to give them Iphones and laptops to do the math for them. That way they can busy their minds with more important things like snapchat and texting. Hopefully in the future these skills will be necessary to succeed.
Another one puzzles me is why not many american kids (white/black) in music/fine arts/visual arts in schools. They are in band/sports related stuff. But none in music which is almost full of only asian students.
That doesn t work as an explanation, kids in the asian countries on top of the list seem to spend an awful lot of time in front of smartphonesand tablets as well. at least when they are not home doing homework, and quite a bit of homework is done on tablets anyway around here.
Most traders don't understand the maths with regard to compounding. Doomed to forever trading the same position size.
