Two competitors in one portfolio

I've a question for you, guys. Does it make any sense to have to competitors in your portfolio? For example, I already have a KO in my portfolio and considering buying PEP. What do you think about it?

doesn't make sense to be long stocks in any portfolio

 

if you own an ETF then you're long several competitors

 

What could you buy instead of PEP? If it's something from a different industry, country or asset class then that is probably a better bet
