Reading about the Twitch saga and how much streamers can make... it's absurd. A streamer in Canada made $705k in a month; a Dungeon & Dragons group made $311k in the same time... No wonder no one wants to work for $15/hr at McD!!

The real source of inflation isn't hourly rate increasing from $11 to $15/hr. It's the absurd amounts of money advertisers are willing to pay to place their products in front of captive eyes predetermined to be ideal customers. It's the billions made by Apple and the rest of them for taking a 30% cut on anything they sell online. It's the insane multi million dollars executive pay packages at listed companies.

Why would anyone want to go to college and hope for a good paying job when all you need is to play your favorite video game online and find a shtick to attract other kids? What does it tell us about our society when corporations are willing to pay hundreds of thousands of dollars a month for kids to play? How can parents, schools or regular employers compete when your kid makes more in a month than average income families make in 10 years?
Certainly not every streamer or influencer is making so much money, but even if "only" 10k a month it's insane.
When the goal is money anything goes and the smartest guy in the room is the one who found the most direct line to the most amount.
The global casino is still in its growing stage and will be devastating.

Indeed. I've seen some stats of the channels I glance at, and they are making a KILLING by doing nothing but posting video content. Fuck. I got too old, too fast.
