  1. Turkey opens fire on United States Special Forces in northern Syria: report

According to Newsweek, the Turkish government’s bombings against Kurdish allies are now striking against American soldiers.

Citing both Iraqi Kurdish intelligence officials and Pentagon officials, the report said that special forces in the Mashtenour hill in the city of Kobani fell under artillery fire from Turkey, which is conducting their so-called “Operation Peace Spring” against the Kurdish people.

President Donald Trump gave the go-ahead to Turkey after he wanted to get off the phone with an angry Turkish president Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. He had threatened he would storm the border to create his so-called “safe zone.”

According to a senior Pentagon official, the Turkish forces should have been aware of where the U.S. was positioned “down to the grid.” So, it’s unclear why they would begin firing on the American soldiers. There were somewhere between 15 and 100 troops in the area, the official said, describing it as a “small number below company level.”

  2. Wow.....Erdogan really played Trump like a fiddle.....convinced him to remove Kurd protection so he could invade and wipe out the Kurds and even throw some artillery at U.S. troops to make sure they know their place...

    Cuddles and kingjelly like this.
  3. This is our NATO ally Turkey, a member of the post WW II defense pact that the foreign policy/military brass mafia will protect to their last breaths. They went ballistic when Trump noted the other members are not spending their agreed percentages on defense and we are getting shafted as a result.

This thing shows why we should never have been in Syria in the first place and why we should be out of NATO.

During the last Turkish coup a fighter pilot had Erdogan's helicopter in his gun sight but did not fire.

In the next coup they will drill him.

    “Operation Peace Spring”

Ahh, Turkish scum. Iraq and Syria are done, Turkey needs to be next.

  9. What was the damage and how many people died? I haven't seen any figures.

    Edit:

"The Pentagon said on Friday that an explosion occurred a few hundred meters away from a US outpost near the Syrian town of Kobani, where US troops are still stationed."

Christ this forum is filled with morons.

Both sides: Turkey and Syria have casualties from the fighting by the way. That whole region is an utter disaster that the US never should have gotten involved in. Another colossal failure by our Government.

Even Russia strongly denounced the Turkish invasion. Which makes sense since Russia has been fighting on the side of the pro Syrian forces. Turkey's invasions will rally and strengthen the rebel forces which is not in the interest of Assad or Russia.
