I don’t worry about tsm, already made some bucks shorting last year when the news broke.

My view is that tsm will break into 2 businesses. One in Arizona will go bankrupt soon, its tech will be taken over by intel. One in Taiwan or perhaps in a not so distant future after China takes over, making chips in Asia.

The breaking point is when the company can no longer freely move its patents.

When the war starts, TSM (and many others) will collapse massively.

After the war, China (including Taiwan) will become the world's #1 chip producer.

No war anytime soon. This senator is not a good trader, has no inside information neither.

If TSM collapses, neither country will have high end chips, no more iPhone and pixel, no more MacBooks, the entire tech sector would crash. Hence lot of protection money on the table to stabilize. Samsung is very far behind, Intel is never close. ATM 281 days out is just $7-8 bucks, not a good volatility trade.

I'm quite sure TSMC has a contingency plan in place should China decide to invade Taiwan, one that would see the chip factory dismantled and flown to the US by military cargo in the name of national security.

it is called surrender, if cia didn’t blow it already. but sure some of its employees are for unification, hard to change people’s minds.

Many Taiwanese are for reunification and many who are for independence will take the first flight out when it becomes clear China will invade. Chinese people are pragmatic and know full well that Taiwan cannot resist China and the US have no reason to commit to defend the island. No one wants to die for an unachievable goal and Taiwan will surrender before 10 thousand die.

    huh?

The most critical complex piece of equipment is the new model stepper.
You will need many many containers for just a piece of the stepper.
The rest of the equipment is not worth salvaging.

When there is war, there will be air and sea blockades.
Nothing can go to or from Taiwan.

No no... It takes many weeks to prepare for an invasion and preparations will be obvious TSMC will move out the key components early enough to avoid the blockade and blow up the rest

War = China loses 70% of its oil supply, one submarine could do it.
