I hold a lot of TSLA in my mutual funds(one of my fund is 45-percent TSLA) so I put on a LEAPS(2023) put spread for $880 with the possibility of making $3300. The thing is I am not a TSLA perma bear but I do not think it will go up forever. NOTHING DOES! I am happy to make half or if I lose half I may get out, by the time I can trim my mutual fund TSLA holdings. I think after the index rebalancing (and a lot of purchase of such already had taken place) there will be less reason to buy, more competition, and perhaps some bad news as well. Also, this bubble is due to pop soon.
When AMZN was $60 back in 2003 there was no way it was going any higher. Oh wait, it reached $100 in 2007....no way it's going higher. By 2011 it was $240, $400 in 2013, $800 in 2016, $1600 in 2018 and finally $3200 in 2020. Never underestimate the power of compounding. I'm not saying TSLA will continue to go up but assuming something will go down because it's done really well is not a good way to make investing decisions. And what's this bubble you speak of.....how do you define that?
We are in a bubble now. Many financial pundits compare valuations and IPOs craze to 1999/2000. the list is long, Vaccine, Virus, Biden problems...If you do not agree with me just keep buying TSLA and forget about it. Oh, BTW I am not net short only using portfolio insurance. TSLA has done well lately solely based on SP Index inclusion.
Deferring to experts and pundits is not a winning strategy. They are forming an opinion of future events (which are unknowable) based on their experience. Most will be wrong.
I am tired of this ping pong. I SHARE THEIR OPINION! OK? I must stop posting on ET, because of all this bullshit! Of course, nobody knows the future! My trade is based on an artificial pump of the tesla being included in the SP! The purchases HAD TO BE DONE and likely are over now. I am clear now?
What kind of response(s) are you looking for? Should we rename you TimtheTradingGod - would that make you feel better? You ask questions, then whine when the replies come. Ya know what they say about doing the same thing over and over but expecting a different outcome?
