Trump’s Approval Rating Over His Handling Coronavirus Is Crashing Down, Down, Down…

BY Chris Walker March 7, 2020

The American public is losing confidence, fast, in President Donald Trump’s ability to lead during the coronavirus global pandemic.

Polling from Morning Consult released this week showcased how the American people had initially approved of Trump’s responses to the disease, but over time found his incompetence and misleading statements over how his administration was managing the situation to be just too much to overlook.

In early February, the poll found that 61 percent of Americans approved of Trump’s response to the virus, while only 21 percent disapproved of his actions. By mid-February, his approval had dropped to 56 percent, but still, only 27 percent disapproved.

The latest polling, released this week, shows a huge dropoff, however — likely in response to the rising number of people reporting being infected (or having perished) from the disease, and Trump’s errant claims about that number “going very substantially down” soon.

Scott Olson/Getty ImagesAccording to the new polling, only 44 percent of Americans approve of Trump’s handling of COVID-19, while 42 percent disapprove. The approval/disapproval ratings are actually a statistical tie due to being within the poll’s margin of error.

In separate polling from The Economist/YouGov, Trump’s numbers are actually underwater: only 37 percent approve of his handling coronavirus in the U.S. so far, while 47 percent say they disapprove (16 percent said they weren’t sure how to rate him).

Criticism of Trump’s mishaps and refusal to listen to healthcare officials about real worries regarding coronavirus have led to other government leaders to be more vocal about their misgivings concerning his ability to handle the situation. Gov. Jay Inslee of Washington, for example, stated in a tweet this past week that he wished Trump would have “stuck to the science” instead of making baseless claims that do more harm than good.

Trump responded to Inslee’s comments, calling him “a snake,” per prior reporting from HillReporter.com.

Its so easy to be a side-line quarterback. I hear lots of criticism, but I fail to hear anyone say what they would have done differently. And don't give me the "he cut CDC's budget by whatever..." That's a bs argument and there would not be one thing different right now.

Lets put partisan politics aside here and use some common sense. Things would be the same regardless of who occupied the Office. The current situation is merely providing fodder for phase- "**" of the 2016 sour grapes attempts... including Mueller and a failed impeachment process... to vilify Trump. Odds are Corona won't even be a talking point by June, and the world's indexes being forward looking as they are.. will once again head for record highs. Just in time for November.

Sorry, dude, but you’re just making excuses for incompetence. If Trump isn’t responsible for anything then what is the point of having a president to lead and run the government.

There was great concern about Trump’s ability to manage and lead the government when he was elected but the argument on the right was he would have access to the best and the brightest so he will rely on the experts. The problem with that was the experts didn’t want to work with him because he was so fickle and authoritarian. His loyalty demands conflicted with the best interests of the country.

Now the incompetence is hitting like an avalanche. It was just a matter of time and the institutions are only resilient to a certain point.

All of the talk about the economy booming never accounted for our economy needs stability and rule and law. Now people are realizing the economy is bigger that tax cuts - we need a stable and capable government.

    Trump’s failures here are:

    1. Not having enough test kits to control spread in hot zones.

    2. His messaging to the public has been filled with misinformation and lies.

Tony Stark does not have a brain capable of formulating thoughts, so he mindlessly searches for poll numbers so his media masters can tell him what to think.

The bonehead has been repeatedly burnt using these tactics, but to this day, he thinks polls are all that matters.

  6. I dunno...FOX News found plenty of blame for this crisis on Obama who has not been in office for 3 years now.... seems convenient to suddenly claim president plays no role....

CPAC founder who touched both Trump and virus patient insists president ‘scrubbed’ hands at event

Matt Schlapp, chairman of the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC), assured viewers of Fox News that President Donald Trump repeatedly “scrubbed” his hands while at the event

During an appearance on Fox & Friends, Schlapp spoke about the coronavirus patient who attended CPAC.

“We had Purell and hand sanitizer stations — I think over 30 of then all over the conference,” Schlapp insisted. “I think everybody was scrubbing down all the time because they realized they were at a very big public event.”

Schlapp confirmed that he had incidental contact with the infected person. But he did not say whether it was before or after he shook President Donald Trump’s hand.

There is no such thing as a sideline critic when it comes to Trump. his lawlessness, his lying, his stupid remarks, and his sociopathic behavior are right out in the open for everyone to see and hear first hand. We are all on the front lines, just as though we were in the room with him. when he does and says these incredibly stupid, ruthless, illogical and dangerous things!

What is totally inexplicable is that thirty some percent of the population is apparently as illogical, uninformed and stupid as he his, because they hear and see the same things but make excuses why his behavior and decision making is not as hypocritical, as illogical, as manipulative, as dangerous and as bad as it obviously is. They don't find anything wrong with a President whose appointments consist of a revolving door of incompetence, the only selection criteria being willingness of the appointee to shut their eyes and ears to Trump's obvious clinical narcissism. The president is mentally sick, and these "loyal" sycophants are his enablers.
