Trump Traps Pelosi

  1. For all his maddening inability to deliver on his signature campaign promises, Donald Trump is still the master reality TV manipulator. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi was the latest to learn the perils of trading insults with Trump. Even if you win you lose because he has a way of scoring points in ways that are personally humiliating to the target. He retweeted a vid of Pelosi sounding like she was having some sort of seizure or dementia attack. Apparently it had been altered. Still, the image of an incoherent Pelosi remains and it is not a hard one to believe.

He displayed some political ju-jitsu by luring Pelosi and Schumer in for negotiations on the deeply desired infrastructure pork and patronage bill, only to hit them with a demand that they drop all further harassment of his good name as the price of his cooperation. So basically it is win-win for Trump. He forces them to drop their investigations, which will lead to them being branded gutless sellouts by their rabid leftwing base, or they tell Trump to stick it, which seems to be their plan. But that course leaves them with only one issue, Trump, and voters are getting fed up with what is now clearly just an attempted drive-by hit on the President. And a pork bill is far more important to the dem base of corrupt big city political machines than it is to Trump's populist base. In fact, much of Trump's base would prefer not to see one passed. So win again. Consider this payback for the government shutdown debacle Nancy.

  3. So even when he gets played like a fiddle and takes a hissy fit, he still wins? When Pelosi gets under his skin and he has to go on a Twitter rampage, and hold a press conference to tell everyone what a stable genius he is (and get his toadies to agree with Dear Leader), that's "winning?"

I bet you got awards in school just for showing up.

  4. The other not-discussed-so-far dynamic going on is that Trump is declassifying all the material and having Barr groom it over. Okay, the obvious is widely discussed- that he is doing this to counterpunch the house and reveal the dirty cops, and all of that. But what he is doing is providing a YUGE pantload of material to review if an impeachment ever reaches the Senate.

Right now, the house is thinking they will just dirty him in the house and may or may not send it on to the Senate just for fun. That's a very risky game though. Once the Senate gets it they will use it as an almost UNLIMITED opportunity to call witnesses on EVERYTHING that is going to come out in the near future. Horowitz, Durham, and all issues arising from the coming batch of declassified documents. Trump is flooding the zone so to speak with very treacherous material. There is a mindset among the dems that believes that they can just indict him in the House and score points there through the related hearings and dirty him and then send it on to the House to show their constituents back home that they made a statement. VERY, VERY dangerous game to play. The dems are thinking that the republicans will just take a quick vote and then we are done. Don't count on it. They may run the trial for months and use it as an opportunity to do their own little investigation and political hit job.

They are beating their chest because the court will uphold their ability to subpoena witnesses and documents for Congressional hearings. Maybe they need a little lesson on what the hefty powers of the Senate and an accused President have to subpoena witnesses and documents, especially where the requests have been approved by the majority of the Senate. I hope Brennan, Rice, Samantha Powers, Crapper, Comey, Tarmac Mamma, Hillary etc, etc like the limelight. The Senate and the accused President are absolutely entitled to probe the factors that may be driving the accusations against him.

GIDDY-UP. Let's go. As I said, the Senate will be ready to vote the minute arrives, but dont count on them doing it. They are not going to turn down a chance to go full savage.

Think about it tards. You are not the brightest bunch, and you are walking right into a lobster trap. And once it reaches the senate your chances of finding your way out without taking a severe beating are very slim.

  6. The House may get some dem judge to enforce their subpoenas but what happens if the administration ignores it? What is the judge going to do, start arresting administration officials? And who exactly would be doing the arresting?

Separation of Powers is not a "constitutional crisis." It is a constitutional principle designed to prevent one branch from getting too much power. If one house of the congress can have members of the executive branch arrested or fined, they would have enormous power nowhere granted to them in the Constitution. Likewise, they have no constitutional authority to do opposition research on the executive branch or to harass his supporters.
