Amping up the ongoing war between himself and Megyn Kelly, Donald Trump is sounding like someone who is going to skip this week's debate. https://www.washingtonpost.com/news...re-replacing-megyn-kelly-as-debate-moderator/ Of course without him, the debate loses any relevance and Fox's anticipated ratings bonanza goes down the drain. Trump was not coy about the reason for his absence. He considers Megyn Kelly a biased and unprofessional journalist. Given her obvious Trump derangement syndrome, which has only gotten worse since the first debate, his stance is understandable. He also expressed annoyance at a Fox statement mocking him for asking his twitter followers to weigh in on the decision. No fool where the media and publicity are concerned, he might also have concluded that the debates have become a bit tiresome and unproductive. Once again however, Trump has made himself the center of attention and totally overshadowed whatever else might happen at the debate. He also came up with a novel way to punish Fox and raise the cost of their standing behind Kelly.
at this stage he will look bad if he shows up and he may look bad if he skips it. he does have guts. and fox is going to lose a lot of their audience... not just for the debate.
No he doesn't. He's running from a chance to bring millions back on board. But he's smart you could say, knowing that he can't control his mouth.
This is why I cannot support the man for president, or anything else for that matter. He is the petulant child taking his ball home. Sooner or later the, they can't live without me types, step on their own dick. This may play well with the blind loyalist, but he just lost a shitload of people who take this election seriously. Bank on it. He just overplayed his hand.
It is interesting that Trump is proposing hosting a television appearance in the same time slot as the debate. He stated he would give any money from the appearance to veterans. If he does this then he will probably have 38M of the suggested 40M FOX audience watching him - leaving FOX with a mere 2M watching the debate. This might be a brilliant move from Trump. It certainly sends FOX a message.
He put himself in a no win position this time, fox called his bluff, he lost, he will show up guaranteed.
I don't believe Trump will show up for this debate unless FOX drops Megyn Kelly as a moderator. For all of his many faults, one thing Trump does not do is flip-flop on short term issues. He digs in and sticks to his guns.
I think it's a great move. He has nothing to gain in the debate, doesn't really do that well in debates, has always said he is a doer not a talker, and people will see just how boring USA is without him
Off course he won't debate . . . when it comes to policy and implementation , he has none. Trump campaign says candidate won’t participate in Fox News/Google debate Donald Trump’s campaign said Tuesday night that the Republican primary front-runner does not plan to participate in the upcoming Fox News/Google debate, shortly after the debate lineup was announced. Trump’s campaign confirmed the decision to Fox News. The Republican presidential candidate already had said he probably would not be going, accusing Fox News of “playing games” with him. Trump has cited concerns with one of the debate moderators, Megyn Kelly – but apparently made his decision not to attend following press statements from Fox News. Trump, though, took heat for his decision not to attend from his closest rival in the polls, Texas Sen. Ted Cruz, who accused Trump of being "afraid of Megyn Kelly." “If Donald is afraid to defend his record, it speaks volumes,” Cruz said in a radio interview with Mark Levin, challenging Trump to a one-on-one debate. Trump’s campaign manager Corey Lewandowski even threatened to ramp up the vicious verbal attacks Trump has repeated since the first August debate.
