They absolutely intended 10/7/2023, a big fat thumb was put on the scales by Bibi, Ben-Gvir and others in that gang. Though I expect the original plan was to take over themselves, Trump presented an option with different optics, and they likely aimed for this as one potential future. Plans within plans over a century or more if necessary. You don't know which option will present but be well prepared to exploit the higher probability ones. The "luck of the Irish" is simply the English waving away that they were well prepared more often than not. Israel removed their ambassador because we call bullshit, recognising what we see.
